Abstract

Disclosed is a melt-moldable biodegradable resin material which is sufficiently satisfactory in thermal characteristics and mechanical characteristics after molding (as a molded article). Specifically disclosed is a cellulose derivative characterized by having an average polymerization degree of not less than 500. This cellulose derivative is preferably a cellulose silyl ether. Also specifically disclosed is a cellulose derivative-polylactic acid graft copolymer, wherein the main chain is composed of a cellulose derivative having an average polymerization degree of not less than 500 and a graft chain is composed of a polylactic acid. In this graft copolymer, the cellulose derivative of the main chain is preferably composed of a cellulose silyl ether. Further specifically disclosed is a polylactic acid resin composition obtained by blending 1-50 parts by weight of the graft copolymer in 100 parts by weight of a polylactic acid.
