Abstract

A roller skate or skate board that has a steering and shock absorbing suspension for the wheels (57, 58), characterized by an axle and pivot unit (24, 38, 39) that is partially embedded in a shock absorber (2, 13, 23, 27) that extends longitudinally in the direction of the pivot axis, held in a bracket that is mounted to the roller skate or skateboard with the pivot at an acute angle to a sole plate of the roller skate or skateboard.

Claims

AMENDED CLAIMS received by the International Bureau on 1 December 2008 (01/12/2008)CLAIMS
1. An assembly including a bracket 1, 11 having a surface 11 a, 40 for mounting a roller skate or skate board, characterized by a unit 24, 38, 39 that includes an axle 6, 29 rigidly joined to a pivot 5, 30, by the pivot being substantially wholly embedded in a shock absorber 2, 13, 15, 23, 27 that is mounted in a recess 7, 12, 16 in the bracket, by the pivot unattached to the bracket, and by the recess in the bracket mounting the shock absorber with the pivot at an acute angle to the surface 11a of the bracket. .
2. An assembly as claimed in claim 1 , in which the unit that includes the axle 6 and pivot 5 also incorporates a flange 4, 14, 19 with the pivot orthogonal to the flange.
3. An assembly as claimed in either one of claims 1 or 2, in which the bracket 17 has a split 18 that allows the bracket to be partially opened to facilitate insertion of the shock absorber with embedded axle and pivot unit, with a bolt 21 to then close the split.

An assembly as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3, that includes two brackets, one for a front axle and the other for a rear axle of the skate or skateboard, in which a pair of side plates 10 is added to the assembly, holding the brackets 1 1 with recesses 12 mounting the shock absorbers 13 with embedded axle and pivot units.
5. An assembly as claimed in claim 4, in which the side plates have flanges 1 Oa to enhance their holding action.

An assembly as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3, that includes two brackets, one for a front axle and the other for a rear axle of the skate or skateboard, each bracket comprising an upper bracket 26 and a lower bracket 25, mounted on mounting formations 22b of a sole plate 22a with a web 22 for the roller skate or skate board,.
7. An assembly as claimed in claim 6, in which dual lower brackets 33, 35 are provided that span between the two brackets.
8. An assembly as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3, in which two brackets are integrally formed as one component 34 forming also the sole plate surface 40, each bracket mounting a shock absorber and axle and pivot unit with the pivot at an acute angle to the sole plate.
9. An assembly as claimed in one of claims 1 to 9, in which the assembly incorporates a brake pad 48 or provision 46 - 52 for attachment of a brake pad.

10. An assembly as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 9, in which the pivot is formed as a solid rod 5, a tube 30 or a folded sheet metal.

18. A roller skate or skate board as herein described and incorporating a brake as illustrated in figures 15 to 18 of the drawings.
