Abstract

　高画質の動画表示も可能であり、かつ色純度が向上される表示装置と、その表示装置に用いられる照明装置とを提供する。第１の色を発する第１の光源（３１Ｇ）と、第１の色に対して補色関係にある第２の色の光を発する第２の光源（３１ＲＢ）とを備えた照明装置（３）と、０．５フレーム周期で各走査線ＧＬを順次選択するゲートドライバ（２４）と、１フレーム期間の前半において前記第１の色の画素へデータ信号を書き込み、後半において他の２色の画素へデータ信号を書き込むデータドライバ（２３）と、１フレーム期間の前半において前記第１の光源を点灯させると共に前記第２の光源を消灯し、前記期間の後半において前記第２の光源を点灯させると共に前記第１の光源を消灯するスイッチ回路（２６）とを備える。
