Abstract

A reformer furnace that is capable of recovering the sensible heat of 700° to 800°C coke oven gas, and that is capable of gasifying any tar fraction and tar sludge of the coke oven gas to thereby attain efficient production of a gas fuel with low unreacted tar content. There is provided a reformer of coke oven gas from coke oven comprising a mixing zone and, connected to the downstream side thereof, a diffusion zone, wherein a coke oven gas and a reaction gas are introduced in the mixing zone, and wherein structuring is made so that the cross-section area of flow channel in diffusion zone entrance space at which the mixing zone shifts to the diffusion zone is smaller than the cross-section area of the mixing zone, and wherein the reformer internal wall at diffusion zone entrance space connected to the exit of the mixing zone exhibits a divergent angle of 5 to 10 degrees from the central axis of the diffusion zone in the direction of flow of gas mixture.
