Abstract

高分子電解質膜(1)と該高分子電解質膜(1)の周縁部より内方の部分を挟む一対の電極(4、8)を有する膜-電極接合体(10)と、膜-電極接合体(10)と接触するように配設され、一方の主面に溝状の第1反応ガス流路(37)が屈曲するように形成された導電性の第1セパレータ(30)と、膜-電極接合体(10)と接触するように配設され、一方の主面に溝状の第2反応ガス流路(27)が屈曲するように形成された導電性の第2セパレータ(20)と、を備え、第1反応ガス流路(27)は、少なくともその上流端から最初に電極8と接触する部分と、第2反応ガス流路(27)の上流端から最初に電極4と接触する部分と、の間(以下、第1セパレータ30の最上流部8C)に形成されている流路の幅が、該第1セパレータ30の最上流部8C以外に形成されている流路の幅より小さく形成されている、高分子電解質形燃料電池。
