Abstract

本発明の目的は、表示部のコントラストが悪く、黒浮きが発生するとしても、浮遊画像として表示されるオブジェクトの立体感を損なわない画像表示装置を提供することにある。 画像表示装置（１００）は、二次元画像を表示する画像表示面（１１）を備えた表示部（１０）と、画像表示面（１１）に離間して配置された画像伝達パネル（２０）と、を備え、画像表示面（１１）から出射される光を画像伝達パネル（２０）の表示部（１０）と対向する側と反対側に位置する空間中の結像面（３０）に結像して、浮遊画像を表示する浮遊画像表示部（１）を有する。 表示部（１０）の画像表示面（１１）から観察位置までの間のいずれかの位置に、遮蔽部（２）が配置される。 遮蔽部（２）は、一例としては、画像伝達パネル（２０）の縁部にロ字状に形成された黒色のマスク（遮蔽物）（４０）で構成され、表示部（１０）の画像表示面（１１）の表示領域の境界（１１ａ）が出射する光の一部又は全部を遮光する。
