Abstract

 本発明は、コレステリック相を示す液晶組成物を駆動して画像を表示する液晶表示装置及びそれを用いた電子ペーパーに関し、製造の容易性を実現すると共に製造コストの低減を達成できる液晶表示装置及びそれを用いた電子ペーパーを提供することを目的とする。  液晶表示装置は、青色光を選択的に反射する青色用液晶を対向基板間に封止した青色用液晶表示素子と、緑色光を選択的に反射する緑色用液晶を対向基板間に封止した緑色用液晶表示素子と、赤色光を選択的に反射する赤色用液晶を対向基板間に封止した赤色用液晶表示素子とが表示面側からこの順に積層され、青色用液晶の誘電率異方性の大きさをΔεBとし、緑色用液晶の誘電率異方性の大きさをΔεGとし、赤色用液晶の誘電率異方性の大きさをΔεRとすると、ΔεB>ΔεG>ΔεRの関係を満たすように構成する。
