 本発明は爆発燃焼によるピストンの往復運動エネルギーを回転出力機構に効率的に伝達するエンジンを提供する。  一軸線X上に第一シリンダー(1)と第二シリンダー(2)を対置し、該第一シリンダー(1)内の第一ピストン(3)と第二シリンダー(2)内の第二ピストン(3)を上記軸線X上に延在するピストンロッド(5)で直結して上記第一、第二ピストン(3),(4)とピストンロッド(5)とが一体に往復運動する構成を有し、該ピストンロッド(5)の中間延在部に該ピストンロッド(5)の往復運動を回転運動に変換する出力機構(8),(9)を連結したエンジン。
