Abstract

 多孔質母材を製造する装置において、給気口と排気口を有する上部堆積室と、給気口を有する下部堆積室と、上部堆積室の上部にあって、堆積によって形成された多孔質母材を引上げ格納する上室とを有する反応容器において、上部堆積室の床面が、堆積中の多孔質ガラス母材の直胴部下端と堆積先端部との間の高さに設置され、上部堆積室の床部に上部堆積室と下部堆積室を接続する接続口が設けられ、接続口の開口径をA、接続口を通過する多孔質母材の径をBとするとき、B/Aが式0.05≦B/A≦0.6を満たすことを特徴としている。
