Abstract
A wheel support device for an aircraft, having a suspension mechanism (2) for rotatably supporting a wheel (3) by the lower end of a support member (1) connected to an aircraft body. The suspension mechanism is provided with a crank element (4) and a disc brake. The crank element is constructed from a horizontal support shaft rotatably supported by the lower end of the support member, an axle (42) for ratatably supporting the wheel, and an arm (43) placed normal to the horizontal support shaft and axle and connecting one end of the horizontal support shaft and one end of the axle. The disc brake is installed so as to brake the rotation ofthe crank element about the horizontal support shaft. The suspension mechanism is adapted to produce damping force by causing, while being subjected to braking by the disc brake, a circular stroke motion of the wheel with the radius of the motion being the distance between the horizontal support shaft and the axle.
