Abstract

 液晶コントローラ(20)は、階調変換による階調変化度合が互いに異なる複数の階調変換テーブル(21b)を記憶するメモリ(21)と、複数の階調変換テーブル(21b)の中から参照すべき階調変換テーブル(21b)を選択する選択部(22a)と、選択された階調変換テーブル(21b)を参照して入力階調データの変換を行う変換部(22b)とを備え、選択部(22a)における選択条件は、液晶表示の垂直周波数が高くなるほど、かつ、液晶温度が低くなるほど、より階調変化度合の大きい階調変換テーブルが選択されるように設定されているとともに、複数の階調変換テーブル(21b)のうちの少なくとも一部のものに関しては、垂直周波数が高くなると、その階調変換テーブルが選択されるべき液晶温度の幅が大きくなるように設定されている。これにより、オーバーシュート駆動にとってより適切な階調変換を実現する。
