Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the production of a building material, and to the use of the building material for the production of, for example, emergency shelters (10). The invention provides that fiber material is coated with a polymer layer, wherein the polymer layer should have a layer thickness of at least 1%, and preferably of at least 10% of the layer thickness. From the building materials produced in this manner, an emergency shelter (10) is to be constructed, which can be stored in a folded manner. The invention provides that the emergency shelters (10) are built in a modular design such that a shelter (10) may be used alone, or in combination with further emergency shelters (10). In order to improve the weather resistance, the emergency shelter (10) should comprise a tarp (42) over a roof construction (40, 41) made of the building material according to the invention, wherein the tarp sheet (42) is anchored to the ground by means of anchoring cables (43a, 43b, 43c) such that the emergency shelter (10) is secured, even from wind.
