Abstract

The present invention is related to a diffusion sheet which has a plurality of convex portions with long and short axes formed on one surface of the sheet, wherein the longitudinal directions of the convex portions are substantially aligned in one direction, and in which, if light rays are incident on the other surface at an incident angle of 0°, the light rays projecting from the one surface of the sheet is satisfied with the following two conditions (1) and (2): (1) With respect to the projection strength distribution [1] in the plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the convex portion, the projecting angle with the strength equal to 50% of the strength at the incident angle of 0° is in the range of 15-25°. (2) With respect to the projection strength distribution [1] in the plane perpendicular to the sheet surface and parallel with the longitudinal direction of the convex portion, the projecting angle with the strength equal to 50% of the strength at the incident angle of 0° is in the range of 0.5-5°. According to the invention, a diffusion sheet with an excellent anisotropic diffusion effect of light and a back lighting unit with superior brightness and uniformity are provided.
