Abstract

An air conditioner in which problems caused by freezing in its outdoor heat exchanger are solved. The air conditioner has preset defrosting operation start conditions corresponding to conditions where the amount of frost in the outdoor heat exchanger has increased to a predetermined amount, and the air conditioner also has preset defrosting operation start conditions corresponding to conditions where frosting has occurred in the outdoor heat exchanger. When either of the sets of preset conditions is satisfied, heating operation is switched to defrosting operation.
