Description

AN APPARATUS FOR LIFTING PERSONS
TECHNICAL FIELD AND BACKGROUND ART.
The present invention relates to an apparatus for lifting persons comprising: - a base;
- a support element for one or more persons;
- a lifting arm with one or more stages operatively connected to the support element and movably associated with the base to move the support element between a resting position and at least one raised operative position;
- an articulation arm rotatably interconnected between the lifting arm and the support element.
The present invention refers to the sector of aerial platforms, i.e. vehicles provided with systems for lifting persons. In particular, the present invention refers to said lifting apparatus, whose purpose is to transfer one or more persons, within a support element (also called basket), from a lowered resting position, and at least one raised operative position, to enable persons to work at a certain height from the ground. In known platforms, lifting apparatus use lifting arms to move the basket relative to vehicle. Said lifting arms comprise extensible structures, for example comprising a plurality of arms connected to each other in rotatable fashion or according to a telescopic coupling. Lifting apparatus comprise also, in some cases, an additional articulated arm, called jib, able to rotate relative to the remaining part of the lifting apparatus (i.e. relative to the lifting arm), to provide the basket with greater freedom of movement, facilitating the persons' work even when the optimal positioning of the basket is particularly difficult. However, while said jib has undeniable advantages, it entails some drawbacks in terms of bulk of the platform in resting conditions. It should be kept in mind that it is desirable to minimise the bulk of the lifting apparatus, and of the aerial platform, hence of the vehicle (whereto the lifting apparatus is associated) under conditions of travel. In particular, in travel conditions, the basket is in the resting position and the lifting arm is folded back, to minimise its own bulk. In such situations, the presence of the jib, which interconnects the basket relative to the actuating arm, entails the need to increase the bulk of the vehicle. DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION.
An object of the present invention is to eliminate the aforesaid drawbacks and to make available an apparatus for lifting persons comprising an articulation arm Qib), minimising the bulk of the apparatus under resting conditions.
Another object of the present invention is to make available an aerial platform comprising an apparatus for lifting persons provided with articulation arm (jib), m which the bulk of the platform under resting conditions is minimised.
Said objects are fully achieved by the apparatus and by the aerial platform of the present invention, which are characterised by the content of the appended claims. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS. This and other characteristics shall become more readily apparent from the following description of a preferred embodiment, illustrated purely by way of non limiting example in the accompanying drawing tables, in which:
- figure 1 shows a lateral view of an apparatus according to the present invention;
- figure 2 shows the apparatus of figure 1, in a different operative condition;
- figure 3 shows the apparatus of figure 1, in a different operative condition; - figure 4 shows the apparatus of figure 1, in a different operative condition;
- figure 5 shows the apparatus of figure 1, in a different operative condition;
- figure 6 shows the apparatus of figure 1, in a different operative condition but according to a top view.
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION. In the figures, the reference number 1 designates an aerial platform according to the present invention. The aerial platform 1 comprises a vehicle 2, which can be constituted for example by a lorry or by a tracked vehicle.
The reference number 3 designates an apparatus for lifting persons. Said apparatus 3 comprises:
- a base 4, constituted for example by a fifth wheel integral with the vehicle 2; - a support element 5 for one or more persons, constituted for example by a booth (or by a basket, according to the prior art);
- a lifting arm 6 operatively connected to the support element 5 and movably associated with the base 4 to move the support element 5 between a resting position and at least one raised operative position; - an articulation arm 7, i.e. a jib, rotatably interconnected between the lifting arm and the support element 5. Said articulation arm is constituted, for example, by a pantograph. It should be noted that the articulation arm 7, according to the prior art, can be rotated relative to the lifting arm 6, in a plurality of operative positions (as schematically shown in figures 3 and 4).
Moreover, the apparatus 3 originally comprises means for actuating in retraction / extraction the articulation arm 7 relative to the lifting arm 6. In the illustrated preferred embodiment, the means for actuating the articulation arm 7 relative to said lifting arm 6 comprise: - a guide integral to the lifting arm 6;
- a cursor 8 slidably inserted in the guide and rotatably connected to the articulation arm 7;
- an actuator 9 operatively active on the cursor 8 to move it along the guide between at least a first position, in which the articulation arm 7 is completely retracted (figure 2), and at least a second position, in which the articulation arm 7 is completely extracted (figure 1). It is noteworthy to observe that the lifting arm 6 is pivotally connected to a support arm 10. The support arm 10, which has preferably a triangular shape, is rotatably associated with the base 4. In particular, the support arm is rotatable about a vertical axis. Hence, the lifting arm 6, the articulation arm 7 and the support element 5 are rotatable about said vertical axis, too (integrally to the support arm).
The apparatus 3 also comprises a hydraulic piston 11 (or any other actuator) connected to the support arm 10 and to the lifting arm 6» to enabling a rotation of the lifting arm 6 relative to the support arm 10 in a vertical plain.
Therefore, the lifting arm 6 is provided with two degrees of freedom by rotation about the vertical axis (by means of the rotation of the support arm 10 with respect to the base 4) and in any vertical plane (by means of the rotation of the lifting arm 6 itself with respect to the support arm 10). The actuator 9 comprises, for example, a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder piston coupling.
In particular, in the illustrated embodiment, the guide is defined internally by a portion of the lifting arm 6. In this case said retraction takes place internally to the lifting arm 6 itself, the articulation arm 7 being fully retractable within the lifting arm 6.
Alternatively, the guide may also be defined externally to a portion of the lifting arm 6. In this case, said retraction takes place externally to the lifting arm 6. In any case, in the first position, in which the articulation arm 7 is retracted (as shown in figure 2), the articulation arm 7 is superposed to the lifting arm 6 or inserted within it, thus, advantageously, it entails no supplementary bulk, in addition to that of the articulation arm 6. It should be noted that, in the illustrated preferred embodiment, the lifting arm 6 comprises a plurality of elements coupled to each other in telescopic fashion, according to the prior art.
Therefore, the fact that the articulation arm 7 is retractable relative to the lifting arm enables, advantageously, to reduce the bulk of the platform, i.e. of the vehicle, in particular in a direction of advancement of vehicle. Moreover, the apparatus 3 originally comprises a control unit operatively connected to the actuator 9 and to said means for actuating the articulation arm 7, in such a way as to activate the actuator 9 only when the articulation arm is aligned parallel to the guide. This advantageously facilitates the actuation in extraction / retraction of the articulation arm 7. It should also be noted that the support element 5 is rotatable around its own axis of rotation, substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis defined by the articulation arm 7. This advantageously, enables to place the support element 5, in the resting position, in a position rotated up to about 180 degrees around its own axis, relative to the operative position, in such a way that it is aligned to the lifting arm 6, with further reduction of the bulk of the apparatus 3.
