Definitions

  • the present invention furthermore relates to a roll screen or a sliding door provided with such a roller screen system.
  • a drawback of the known systems is that they usually cannot be placed or fixed in a position other than the starting position or the end position - viz. completely open or completely closed.
  • opening and closing said systems is not always possible in a simple and safe manner, for example for handicapped persons or persons suffering from rheumatism or multiple sclerosis.
  • the object of the present invention is to provide a safe roller screen system that is readily accessible to anybody.
  • the roller screen system according to the invention is characterised in that it further comprises: a winding drum for the cloth, wheel/pulling means connected to a free end of the cloth, and spring means engaging between the wheel/pulling means and the winding drum, which spring means maintain a bias between the winding drum with the cloth wound thereon and the free end of the cloth.
  • the advantage of the roller screen system according to the invention is that the spring-loaded cloth is capable of moving along irrespective of the position of the cloth, in which position the passage may be at least partially open, therefore, when a force is exerted on the gauze or cloth material in a direction perpendicular thereto. This is true independently of the fact whether the system is manually operated or works automatically, and this has a positive effect as regards the safety in case of calamities, whilst in addition it prevents the cloth material from being damaged.
  • Another advantage is the fact that, unlike the situation with known roller screen systems, in which a spring is present in the hollow winding drum of the cloth, the force that is to be exerted during the closing of the screen is constant along the entire path of movement thereof. Moreover, the system according to the invention will not spring back to the starting position when the screen is released while being closed, but it will remain stationary - with the cloth in the tensioned condition. These aspects, viz. the fact that the screen remains stationary and does not spring back, helps to increase the level of safety and prevents damage to the roller screen system.
  • rollers screen system requires only a minimal effort, which is especially advantageous for people afflicted with rheumatism or multiple sclerosis, for example.
  • the use of end switches at the starting position and the end position of the screen is not necessary in the case of an automatically operating version of the roller screen system, because it can readily be derived from the increased force that is required when the screen is stationary in either one of said positions that said positions have been reached.
