  • the receptacle in the drinking vessel configuration of the drinking vessel, may have a cup-shaped upper portion which defines the upper end of the receptacle and a relatively narrower lower hollow neck portion which defines the lower end of the receptacle and which defines a filler opening at the lower end, through which the receptacle can be filled with the beverage.
  • the drinking vessel may include a closure for closing off said filler opening.
  • the closure for closing off said filler opening may be a stopper which can be press-fitted into the filter opening thereby to form a fluid-tight closure for the filler opening.
  • the drinking vessel in its drinking vessel configuration, may have the form of a wine glass wherein the upper portion of the receptacle provides the cup of the wine glass, the neck portion of the receptacle provides the stem of the wine glass and the base provides the base of the wine glass.

  • the receptacle 12 defines a screw thread 34 on an inner side of the cup 16 adjacent the rim 18 and the base 14 defines a complementary external screw thread 36 along a peripheral edge thereby permitting the base 14 to be screwed into the cup 16 to close off the top of the cup in the beverage container configuration of the drinking vessel.
  • the drinking vessel includes a cork stopper 37 which is press-fitted into the filler opening 21 of the receptacle to thereby provide a fluid-tight closure for the filler opening.
  • the drinking vessel has a removable secondary closure means in the form of a disc-shaped metal foil seal 38 which is secured along a peripheral edge thereof, to an inner side of the receptacle adjacent the screw thread formations 34 in the beverage container configuration of the drinking vessel, so as to provide a fluid-tight seal for closing off the receptacle thereby to define an enclosed space within which the wine is contained.
  • the seal 38 includes a lift tab 40 which allows the seal 38 to be lifted and peeled from the receptacle 12.
  • the seal 38 is secured to the receptacle as described above and the base 14 is screwed into the cup of the receptacle. With the base 14 lowermost, the receptacle is filled with the beverage. The cork stopper is thereafter press-fitted into the filler opening 21 thereby sealing the beverage within the container.
  • the drinking vessel is stowed for transport or display on, for example, a shelf in a retail outlet resting on its base in its beverage container configuration.
  • the drinking vessel is inverted, the base 14 is unscrewed from the cup and screwed onto the distal end of the neck portion 20 of the receptacle.
  • the seal 38 is then removed allowing the beverage to be consumed.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un récipient à boire (10) comprenant un contenant ouvert sur la partie supérieure (12) destiné à contenir une boisson, telle que du vin, et une base (14). Le récipient (10) peut se transformer entre une configuration de récipient à boire où il ressemble à un verre de vin et une configuration de contenant de boisson où il permet de contenir la boisson pendant un transport ou un stockage. Le contenant (12) comprend une partie de gobelet (16) et une partie de col creux (20) définissant une ouverture de remplissage (21) fermable au moyen d'un bouchon (37) et par laquelle le contenant peut être installé. Dans la configuration de récipient à boire, la partie de col est vissée dans la base (14) alors que dans celle de contenant de boisson, la base est vissée dans la partie de gobelet pour refermer la partie supérieure du gobelet, un joint (38) étant fixé à un côté intérieur du gobelet à des fins de fermeture étanche pour définir un espace clos dans lequel la boisson est contenue.
