Abstract

Toy brick or block elements in particular of artistic and educational type, in which a plurality of brick elements made of a variety of different colors and a variety of different shapes are interlocked between each other by means of tongues and corresponding grooves to build a great variety of precise and coherent patterns or designs.

Claims

7AMENDED CLAIMS received by the International Bureau on 23 November 2007 (23.11.2007)
1. A building toy comprising:
plurality of interlockable bricks configured to be assembled together to form patterns, each one of said bricks having an upper part, a lower part and an annular recess which extends between the upper part and the lower part and surrounds the middle part of the longitudinal height of the brick;
the upper part of at least some of the bricks being formed of a regular circular, a regular polygonal or a partly spherical shape;
the lower part providing, on its longitudinal height, at least one longitudinally extending tongue and at least one longitudinally extending groove, the at least one tongue and the at least one groove being shaped and configured so that bricks can be releasably interlocked by a tongue of a first brick slideably engaging a groove of a second brick, the annular recess of said brick being deeper and longer than the at least one tongue such that a tongue of a brick can enter the recess of another brick before slideably engaging with the groove of said other brick.
2. Building toy according to claim 1 wherein said lower part is formed of a circular shape.
3. ♦ Building toy according to claim 1 wherein said lower part is formed of a polygonal shape.
4. Building toy according to any of the preceding claims wherein said upper part is formed of a square shape.
5. Building toy according to any of claims 1-3 wherein said upper part is formed of a hexagonal shape.
6. Building toy according to any of claims 1-3 wherein said upper part is formed of a rectangular shape.
7. Building toy according to claim 3 wherein said lower part is formed of a square shape.
8. Building toy according to claim 3 wherein said lower part is formed of a hexagonal shape.
9. Building toy according to claim 3 wherein said lower part is formed of a rectangular shape.
10. Building toy according to claims 1 to 3 wherein said polygonal shape is formed of a triangular shape.
11. Building toy according to claim 1 wherein at least some of the said polygonal shapes of 5 said interlockable bricks have one or more concave and/or one or more convex complementary sidewalls.
12. Building toy according to any one of the preceding claims wherein at least some of said interiockable bricks have at least one cylindrical portion protruding from the top of the said upper part.
10 13. Building toy according to any one of the preceding claims wherein at least some of said interiockabie bricks have a recess protruding in the bottom side of the lower part.
14. Building toy according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the top of at least some of said interiockable bricks have representations of letters or symbols for educational and teaching purposes.
15 15. Building toy according to any one of the preceding claims wherein said tongues and said grooves are hidden by the said upper parts when the said interlockable brick elements are assembled between each other.
16. Building toy according 1o any one of the preceding claims wherein at least one of the Interiockabie bricks is formed in two separate sections one section to fit and 20 connect to the other, thereby creating a composite brick element.
