  • the ends of the posts 60 are preferably each configured with a straight end portion 63 that extends essentially perpendicular to the length of the post 60, and a rounded portion 62 that follows the contour of about one quarter of a circle with centre at through-going post holes 23, 25 that receive the bolts 22, 24. in this manner the railing 20 can only be laid down in one direction as shown in fig. 3, and any attempt to lay down the railing by turning the posts 60 clockwise in fig. 4 will be resisted by the straight end portions 63 of the posts 60 abutting against the respective inside bottom faces 34, 44 of the hand rail section 30 and the base section 40.
  • Fig. 5 shows the railing 20 as the user manually pulls up the hand rail section 30 to manually raise the railing 20.
  • a wire 70 extends through holes 66 formed in the posts 60 and is preferably kept taut by a spring 72 secured to one end of the wire 70 and to one of the posts 60.
  • the wire 70 provides an additional safety against personnel falling off the walkway, and through the wire 70 being kept taut it will not interfere with the laying down of the posts 60.
  • a lock is provided to allow the railing 20 to be lowered to the collapsed configuration.
  • the lock may be provided by an actuator to be discussed below which serves to raise and lower the railing 20.
  • Fig. 6 shows the railing 20 in a near collapsed configuration where the longitudinal edges 31 , 41 of the flanges 36, 46 almost abut against each other.
  • an actuator 80 preferably a hydraulic actuator, is pivotally coupled to the end of an arm 64 which forms an integral extension of one of the posts 60.

  • Fig. 10 also shows the cross-bolts 22, 24 connecting the posts 60 to the hand rail section 30 and base section 40, respectively. Upwardly open slits (not shown) formed in the flanges of base section 40 receive the cross-bolts 22.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne une rambarde (20) à fixer le long d’une passerelle (10) de véhicule (1), de préférence le long d’une plateforme montée sur un véhicule basé au sol. La rambarde comprend une section (30) de main courante allongée, une ou plusieurs sections de base (40, 50) et une pluralité de montants (60) allongés, les montants (60) étant respectivement reliés de façon pivotante à la section de main courante et à une section de base. La rambarde peut être rabattue depuis une configuration relevée dans laquelle lesdits montants sont en position verticale, pour prendre une configuration rabattue dans laquelle les montants prennent une position horizontale. La rambarde comprend un compartiment défini en partie par la section de main courante allongée et adapté pour recevoir les montants lorsque la rambarde est dans la configuration rabattue susmentionnée.
