  • the main object of the present invention is to provide a device for sheltering bicycles and the like wheelers such as conventional bicycles and tandems, or motor bicycles and motorbikes, adapted to overcome the above mentioned problems affecting the prior art, while providing a user with a modular device allowing to shelter one or more bicycles, arranged side by side, in a private motor vehicle garage, so as not to interfere against the vehicles already present herein.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide an user with a small size construction sheltering device which can be practically sold as an "assembly box" and which can be easily installed and managed by the user.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide such a "modular" construction bicycle sheltering devices which can be constructionally expanded by the user, and this by providing a “basic” kit arranged and fitted depending on the use of the bicycle, and to which other modules, to be used by further bicycles or the like, can be fitted in a side-by-side relationship.
  • Another important object of the present invention is to provide such a device for sheltering bicycles and the like, which is so designed and sized as to define, in its installed condition, a side dimension thereof for engagement by the hanged up article, to automatically optimize the surface space it is applied to.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide such a device designed as a bicycle or the like hanging up construction which can be easily fitted to the length of the bicycle or article to be supported and which, moreover, provides an automatic marking or reference of the clamping position of a further device having like features.

  • the improved device is characterized in that it has a construction including two strip support elements (1 ) each comprising an elongated horizontal part (1) from the bottom of which a substantially U-shape part (Ib) extends; said strip support elements (1) which, in use, must be installed opposite to and suitably spaced from one another, are made of a material suitable strength and stiffness material, preferably, though not exclusively, a plastics material; inside each said U-shape parts (Ib) an axle (2) is supported and restrained, preferably, though not exclusively, made of a metal material, which in turn supports either one or two pulleys (3), also made of any suitable desired materials; the part (Ia) of said support elements (1) advantageously comprises contoured openings (4) for receiving and holding suitable clamping means (not shown) such as an expanding plug or the like for providing a mechanical type of clamping to any desired support surfaces, such as a ceiling, a roof or the like.

  • the length of the part (Ia) of the strip support element (1) has been chosen, in designing the device, by considering the length of the largest handlebar of commercial bicycles, divided by a half, to define an ideal middle line of the (occupied space) "surface" necessary for hanging several bicycles, even of different dimensions, arranged in a side- by-side relationship, and by alternately arranging with an adjoining relationship the handlebar of a bicycle and the saddle of another bicycle to optimize the occupied space or volume.
  • the axles (2) which respectively support an idle pulley (3) for the first strip support element (1) and two idle pulleys (3) for the second strip support element (1) and the raising cable (8) form primary means of a raising cable system for engaging and raising/holding/lowering a bicycle or the like (5); said system further comprises a small winch (6) either manually or electrically operated (not shown) and further driving means for driving the cable system, the driving means comprising a driving small cable (8a) designed for engaging a raising loop (8d) of the cable (8) thereby, as the bicycle (5) has arrived at a desired elevation point, which can comprise, for example, the maximum elevation point allowed by the length of the raising cable (8), the size of the bicycle (5) and the height of the ceiling, it will restrain the bicycle at the achieved position.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un dispositif (IA) servant à maintenir des bicyclettes (5) et d'autres deux-roues en position suspendue, permettant ainsi de protéger les bicyclettes (5) en les suspendant à un plafond (13) dans un espace d'abri souhaité, tel qu'un garage pour véhicules à moteur. Ce dispositif de support (IA) est de type modulaire, et permet de retenir une pluralité des bicyclettes (20) suspendues côte à côte, afin d'optimiser la place disponible. Ce dispositif peut en outre être produit par un procédé simple et économique, et peut être facilement installé par un utilisateur.
