Abstract

 インダクティブ型の書込ヘッドを使用して情報を記録する記憶媒体は、記録トラック上に、サーボ情報を記録したサーボ部とデータの書込みを行うデータ部に加え、擬似データのトレーニング書込みを行うライトトレーニング部を配置している。書込制御部は、低温時に、ライトトレーニング領域に擬似データを書込んだ後にデータ領域にデータを書込む。ライトトレーニング領域に擬似データを書込むことによりライトコアを加熱して熱膨張により媒体面側に飛出させ、書込み能力を高めた後にデータ部にデータを書込む。記憶媒体のシステム領域のトラック上のデータ部の前にもライトトレーニング部を配置し、低温時には、システム領域のデータ部にシステム情報を書込む際にライトトレーニング部に擬似データを書込む。

背景技術
[0002] 従来、磁気ディスク装置は小型化と大容量化が進み、コンピュータ以外に PDA、携 帯電話、カーナビゲーシヨン装置等の機器にも広く使用されている。
[0003] このような磁気ディスク装置は、ヘッドを用いて磁気ディスク媒体に情報を記録して おり、図 13 (A)のように、ヘッドスライダ 102の先端にヘッドコア 104を配置したヘッド 100は、媒体面 106との間の空気流動 108により媒体面力も浮上している非接触型 が主流である。
[0004] ところで、冬場などの低温環境においては、空気密度が高めになるため、図 13 (B) のように空気流動 108によるヘッド 100の浮上が高くなり、ヘッドコア 104が媒体面 10 6から離れ、書込み能力が低下する。このような書込み能力の低下を補うためにライト 電流をアップすると、ライトコア 104に大きなライト電流が流れて発熱し、熱膨張により 図 13 (C)のようにヘッドコア 104の体積が増加してヘッドコア 104の突き出しが起こり 、ヘッド 100が媒体面 106に近くなることにより書き込み能力が増加する。
[0005] このようなヘッドの低温環境での書込み時の現象により、低温環境でバディスク媒 体のセクタにデータを書込む場合、書込みを開始したセクタの先頭部分においては ヘッドコアが突き出していないため書込み能力が低ぐ書込みをしている途中からへ ッドコアが熱膨張により突き出してくることで書込み能力が回復する。そのため書込み を行ったセクタの先頭部分でエラーレートが悪ィ匕して読みにくくなる現象が発生する
[0006] このような低温環境でのエラーレートの悪ィ匕の問題を解消するため、現状は、セクタ 先頭でエラレートの悪ィ匕を起すヘッドを除外するようにしたヘッドの選別を行っており 、これによりヘッド歩留りを悪ィ匕させている。また完成した磁気ディスク装置において も、低温環境での試験動作により要求したエラーレートが得られない装置を除外する 選別を行っており、装置の歩留りを悪化させている。
[0007] このような製造上の問題を解決するため、従来の磁気ディスク装置では、ライトした データをすぐにリードして確認するライトべリファイリードを実行し、正しく読めない場 合は再度ライトし、低温環境下での書込み不良を抑止して!、る(特許文献 1)。
[0008] また別の方法として、ターゲットとなるライトセクタの前のセクタをー且リードしてメモリ に格納した後、それぞれのセクタに疑似データをライトし、その後に、一端リードした データと一緒に前のセクタ力 ライトセクタにデータを書込む処理を行 、、低温環境 下での安定動作を確保して ヽる(特許文献 2)。

発明が解決しょうとする課題

[18] 記録トラック上に、サーボ情報を記録したサーボ部とデータの書込みを行うデータ 部に加え、擬似データのトレーニング書込みを行うライトトレーニング部を配置した記 憶媒体を有し、インダクティブ型書込ヘッドを使用して情報を記録するため記憶装置 の制御方法に於いて、 前記記憶装置の使用温度を検出するステップと、
前記使用温度が所定温度以下の場合に、前記ライトトレーニング領域に擬似デー タを書込んだ後に前記データ領域にデータを書込む書込制御ステップと、 を備えたことを特徴とする記憶装置の制御方法。
[19] 請求項 18記載の記憶装置の制御方法に於いて、前記記憶媒体はシステム領域の トラック上のデータ部の前にライトトレーニング部を配置し、
前記書込制御ステップは、使用温度が所定温度以下の状態で前記システム領域 のデータ部にシステム情報を書込む際に前記ライトトレーニング部に擬似データを書 込むことを特徴とする記憶装置の制御方法。
[20] 記録トラック上に、サーボ情報を記録したサーボ部とデータの書込みを行うデータ 部に加え、擬似データのトレーニング書込みを行うライトトレーニング部を配置した記 憶媒体を有し、インダクティブ型の書込ヘッドを使用して情報を記録するため記憶装 置のコンピュータに、
前記記憶装置の使用温度を検出するステップと、
前記使用温度が所定温度以下の場合に、前記ライトトレーニング領域に擬似デー タを書込んだ後に前記データ領域にデータを書込む書込制御ステップと、 を実行させることを特徴とするプログラム。
