  • the invention pertains to surfboards and more particularly to a surfboard having a narrow waist, and lacking fins.
  • Conventional surfboards have one or more fins located in the tail section. These fins provide a certain degree of stability but detract from the surfboard's ability to be surfed backwards. The fins may also interfere with some aerobatic or acrobatic capabilities of the board.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne une planche de surf avec une partie centrale rétrécie ayant une aire élargie (lorsque regardée en plan) devant et derrière la section centrale et se rétrécissant vers chaque extrémité. La partie centrale étroite (« en forme de sablier ») permet de tourner la planche de surf en utilisant la forme du rail latéral (bord) et en minimisant ainsi ou en rendant superflue l’utilisation de dérives. Le nez et la queue de la planche sont de forme similaire, tournant vers le haut à chaque extrémité pour permettre au surfeur de surfer vers l’avant ou vers l’arrière plus facilement qu’avec les planches de surf traditionnelles. La planche de surf peut également comprendre des canaux en dessous, prenant une forme parabolique rayonnant de la partie centrale de la planche vers les bords extérieurs en direction de chaque extrémité. Ces canaux créent des arêtes plus prononcées au niveau des sections plus larges, vers l’avant et l’arrière étant donné que le centre de la partie inférieure de la planche a une profondeur de canal minimale. Les canaux et les arêtes contribuent à la traction de la planche dans l’eau afin de donner au surfeur un plus grand contrôle dans les virages.
