Definitions

  • the invention relates to an airbag of an airbag module according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Passive safety technology in motor vehicles is known to include airbag devices whose gas bag is inflated abruptly in an accident to protect the inmates displaced by delay forward or sideways from injury.

  • It is therefore an object of the invention is to provide an airbag for an airbag module with early retention, in the same time load peaks are reduced.

That is, by the tether the volume of the airbag to be filled is initially kept small, the special arrangement of the tether from the beginning of the deployment process ensures a minimum distance between the outlet opening of the airbag and the impact section. If the occupant dives into the gas bag in the further course of the impact, tear seams tear, for example, so that lateral volume can be released.
  • a primary object of the invention is to filter out load peaks, that is to keep the load of the occupant at a constant level. This is done by an extension of the tether occurs when a certain internal pressure is exceeded and thereby reduced by increasing the volume of the pressure. As a result, the pressure inside the gas bag is influenced by the tether. When the specific internal pressure prevailing within the gas bag is exceeded, the tether extends for at least one longitudinal section, for example by tearing a tear seam, so that the volume of the tearing seam increases Airbags can continue to enlarge. The tearing should not be abrupt, otherwise the pressure inside the gas bag would suddenly drop.

The extension of the tether in turn affects the volume of the airbag, whereby a feedback to the pressure within the airbag takes place.
