Die Erfindung betrifft eine Hochdruckentladungslampe mit einem abgedichteten Entladungsgefäß (1) und zwei innerhalb des Entladungsgefäßes (1) diametral angeordneten Elektroden (2, 3) zum Erzeugen einer Gasentladung sowie mit einer metallischen Zündhilfe (9), die außerhalb des Entladungsgefäßes (1) angeordnet ist, wobei die metallische Zündhilfe (9) einen ersten (91) und einen zweiten Abschnitt (92) aufweist, die jeweils in einer ringförmig das Entladungsgefäß (1) im Bereich der Elektroden (2, 3) umgebenden Nut (13, 14) angeordnet sind, sowie einen dritten Abschnitt (93) aufweist, durch den der erste (91) und zweite Abschnitt (92) miteinander verbunden sind.

Description

Hochdruckentladungslampe
Die Erfindung betrifft eine Hochdruckentladungslampe gemäß dem Oberbegriff des Patentanspruchs 1.
I. Stand der Technik
Eine derartige Hochdruckentladungslampe ist beispielsweise in der WO 97/35335 offenbart. Diese Offenlegungsschrift beschreibt eine Hochdruckentladungslampe für
J einen Kraftfahrzeugscheinwerfer mit einem abgedichteten Entladungsgefäß, in dessen Innenraum zwei Elektroden zum Erzeugen einer Gasentladung diametral angeordnet sind, und mit einer ringförmigen oder teilringförmigen metallischen Zündhilfe, die außerhalb des Entladungsgefäßes angeordnet ist und das Entladungsgefäß im Bereich einer der Elektroden umgibt. Diese Zündhilfe ist als Zündhilfselektrode aus-
K) gebildet, die von einem Zündgerät mit einer elektrischen Spannung zum Initiieren der Gasentladung in dem Entladungsgefäß beaufschlagt wird.
Die Patentschrift US 6,674,239 Bl beschreibt eine Hochdruckentladungslampe für einen Kraftfahrzeugscheinwerfer. Diese Hochdruckentladungslampe besitzt ein Ent- ladungsgefäß, das von einem, auf dem Entladungsgefäß fixierten Außenkolben um- 15 geben ist. Auf dem Außenkolben ist ein Zündhilfsdraht angeordnet, der sich schraubenlinienartig um den Außenkolben windet.
II. Darstellung der Erfindung
Es ist Aufgabe der Erfindung, eine gattungsgemäße Hochdruckentladungslampe mit einer verbesserten Zündhilfe bereitzustellen.
Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß durch die Merkmale des Patentanspruchs 1 20 gelöst. Besonders vorteilhafte Ausführungen der Erfindung sind in den abhängigen Patentansprüchen beschrieben. Die erfindungsgemäße Hochdruckentladungslampe besitzt ein abgedichtetes Entla- dungsgefäß und zwei innerhalb des Entladungsgefäßes diametral angeordnete Elektroden zum Erzeugen einer Gasentladung sowie eine außerhalb des Entladungsgefä- ßes angeordnete metallische Zündhilfe. Diese Zündhilfe weist erfindungsgemäß ei- nen ersten und einen zweiten Abschnitt, die jeweils in einer ringförmig das Entladungsgefäß im Bereich der Elektroden umgebenden Nut angeordnet sind, sowie einen dritten Abschnitt auf, durch den der erste und zweite Abschnitt miteinander verbunden sind.
Die Zündhilfe der erfindungsgemäßen Hochdruckentladungslampe bietet gegenüber der Zündhilfe gemäß der US 6,674,239 Bl den Vorteil einer geringeren Lichtab- schattung und der höheren Effektivität, da sie näher am Entladungsraum und den Elektroden platziert ist. Gegenüber der Zündhilfe gemäß der WO 97/35335 besitzt die erfmdungsgemäße Zündhilfe den Vorteil, dass sie nicht an eine Spannungsversorgung angeschlossen werden muss. Dadurch benötigt die erfindungsgemäße Zünd- hilfe keinen elektrischen Anschluss, kann komplett innerhalb eines Außenkolbens angeordnet werden und verursacht keine Diffusion der in der ionisierbaren Füllung enthaltenden Natrium-Ionen aus dem Entladungsgefäß. Außerdem erfordert die erfindungsgemäße Zündhilfe keine Änderung an der bestehenden Konstruktion der Lampengefäße und des Sockels sowie des Betriebsgerätes. Die ersten und zweiten Abschnitte der metallischen Zündhilfe der erfindungsgemäßen Hochdruckentladungslampe gewährleisten eine zuverlässige Fixierung der Zündhilfe am Entladungsgefäß, ohne dadurch die Montage eines Außenkolbens auf den Enden des Entladungsgefäßes zu beeinträchtigen. Der dritte Abschnitt der Zündhilfe der erfindungsgemäßen Hochdruckentladungslampe verbindet ihren ersten und zweiten Ab- schnitt mechanisch und elektrisch miteinander. Dadurch entsteht eine kapazitive Kopplung zwischen den Elektroden und der metallischen Zündhilfe, die bei den hohen Frequenzen der Zündimpulse, mit denen die Elektroden während der Zündphase beaufschlagt werden, eine dielektrisch behinderte Entladung erzeugen. Die durch die vorgenannte dielektrisch behinderte Entladung innerhalb des Entladungsgefäßes ent- stehenden freien Ladungsträger ermöglichen den elektrischen Durchbruch zwischen den beiden Elektroden. Die Zündhilfe der erfindungsgemäßen Hochdruckentladungslampe besteht aus fertigungstechnischen Gründen und zwecks Minimierung der Lichtabschattung vorzugsweise aus Metalldraht oder / und Metallblech. Beispielsweise können alle drei Abschnitte der Zündhilfe aus Metalldraht oder schmalen Metallblechstreifen gefertigt sein, die miteinander verschweißt sind. Alternativ können beispielsweise der erste und zweite Abschnitt der Zündhilfe aus Metalldraht und der dritte Abschnitt der Zündhilfe aus einem schmalen Metallblechstreifen bestehen.
Der erste und zweite Abschnitt der Zündhilfe der erfindungsgemäßen Hochdruckentladungslampe sind vorteilhafter Weise ringförmig oder ringsegmentförmig ausgebil- det, um eine zuverlässige Fixierung der Zündhilfe in der jeweiligen Nut zu gewährleisten. Alternativ können der erste und zweite Abschnitt der Zündhilfe klammerartig oder klauenartig ausgebildet sein, um die Zündhilfe in der jeweiligen Nut mit Klemmsitz oder nach Art einer Schnapp- oder Rastverbindung an der Außenseite des Entladungsgefäßes zu fixieren.
Die Zündhilfe ist vorteilhafter Weise nicht an eine Spannungsquelle angeschlossen und galvanisch getrennt von den Elektroden angeordnet. Dadurch verursacht die Zündhilfe keinen durch Diffusion der Natrium-Ionen bedingten Natriumverlust in der ionisierbaren Füllung im Entladungsraum. Außerdem wird dadurch nicht die Montage des Außenkolbens auf den Enden des Entladungsgefaßes erschwert, da keine Stromdurchführung durch eines der Lampengefäße für die Kontaktierung der Zündhilfe benötigt wird.
Die Erfindung ist vorteilhaft auf eine Hochdruckentladungslampe mit horizontaler Brennlage, insbesondere auf eine Hochdruckentladungslampe für Kraftfahrzeugscheinwerfer anwendbar. Besonders vorteilhaft ist die Erfindung auf quecksilberfreie Halogen-Metalldampf-Hochdruckentladungslampen für Kraftfahrzeugscheinwerfer anwendbar. Bei diesen Lampen trägt die erfindungsgemäße Zündhilfe erheblich zur Verbesserung der Zündwilligkeit bei. III. Beschreibung der bevorzugten Ausfuhrungsbeispiele
Nachstehend wird die Erfindung anhand zweier bevorzugter Ausfuhrungsbeispiele näher erläutert. Es zeigen:

Bei den in den Figuren 1 und 2 abgebildeten Ausführungsbeispielen der Erfindung handelt es sich um quecksilberfreie Halogen-Metalldampf-Hochdruckentladungs- lampen mit einer elektrischen Leistungsaufnahme von ca. 35 Watt, die zur Verwendung als Lichtquelle in Kraftfahrzeugscheinwerfern vorgesehen sind.
Diese Lampen besitzen ein Entladungsgefäß 1 aus Quarzglas, das einen Entladungsraum 10 und zwei mittels Molybdänfolien 2, 3 abgedichtete Enden 1 1 , 12 aufweist. Im Übergangsbereich von den abgedichteten Enden 11 bzw. 12 zu dem Entladungs- räum 10 weist die Außenseite des Entladungsgefäßes 1 jeweils eine ringförmig das Entladungsgefäß 1 umlaufende Nut 13 bzw. 14 auf. In den Entladungsraum 10 ragen zwei diametral angeordnete Elektroden 2, 3 hinein, die zum Erzeugen einer Gasentladung im Entladungsraum 10 dienen und die über jeweils eine der Molybdänfolien 4 bzw. 5 und eine aus dem jeweiligen abgedichteten Ende 1 1 bzw. 12 herausgeführte Stromzuführung 6 bzw. 7 mit jeweils einem, am Sockel 8 angeordneten, elektrischen Anschluss 80 verbunden sind. Das Entladungsgefäß 1 ist von einem Außenkolben 15 umgeben, der mit den abgedichteten Enden 11, 12 des Entladungsgefäßes 1 verschmolzen ist. Die aus den beiden Lampengefäßen 1, 15 bestehende Baueinheit ist in einer Aufnahme des Lampensockels 8 verankert, so dass das Ende 1 1 als sockelfer- nes Ende des Entladungsgefäßes 1 und das Ende 12 als sockelnahes Ende ausgebildet ist. Bis hierher stimmen die beiden Ausführungsbeispiele der Erfindung überein. Daher werden in den Figuren 1 und 2 für identische Teile dieselben Bezugszeichen verwendet. Gemäß dem in Figur 1 abgebildeten Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung besitzt die Hochdruckentladungslampe eine metallische Zündhilfe 9, die zwei ringförmige Abschnitte 91, 92 und einen dritten, sich an die Außenkontur des Entladungsgefäßes 1 anschmiegenden und über den Entladungsraum 10 in Längsrichtung der Lampe erstreckenden Abschnitt 93 aufweist, der mit den beiden ringförmigen Abschnitten 91, 92 durch eine Schweißung verbunden ist. Die ringförmigen Abschnitte 91, 92 sind jeweils in einer Nut 13 bzw. 14 angeordnet und umschließen das Entladungsgefäß 1 in diesem Bereich. Die Abschnitte 91 bis 93 der Zündhilfe 9 bestehen aus Metalldrähten, insbesondere aus einer Chrom-Eisen-Aluminiumlegierung mit der Be- Zeichnung CrFeAl 139. Alternativ können alle Abschnitte 91 bis 93 oder einzelne Abschnitte, beispielsweise der Abschnitt 93, der Zündhilfe 9 auch aus einem schmalen Blechstreifen gefertigt werden. Die Zündhilfe 9 befindet sich im Zwischenraum zwischen dem Entladungsgefäß 1 und dem Außenkolben 15. Es besteht eine kapazitive Kopplung zwischen der Zündhilfe 9 und den Elektroden 2. 3. Während ihres Betriebs ist die Hochdruckentladungslampe horizontal ausgerichtet, so dass die Ver- bindungsachse der beiden Elektroden 2, 3 in einer horizontalen Ebene angeordnet und die Stromzuführung 6 unterhalb der Lampengefäßes 1, 15 zum Sockel 8 zurückgeführt ist. Der Abschnitt 93 der Zündhilfe 9 verläuft bei dieser Orientierung der Hochdruckentladungslampe unterhalb des Entladungsgefäßcs 1 und ist mit der Stromrückführung 6 in einer gemeinsamen vertikalen Ebene angeordnet, so dass die Lichtabschattung durch die Zündhilfe 9 und die Stromrückführung 6 minimal ist.
Das in Figur 2 abgebildete zweite Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung unterscheidet sich von dem oben beschriebenen ersten Ausführungsbeispiel nur durch die Gestalt der Zündhilfe 9 bzw. 9'. Gemäß dem in Figur 2 abgebildeten zweiten Ausführungs- beispiel der Erfindung besitzt die Hochdruckentladungslampe eine metallische Zündhilfe 9', die zwei klammerartige oder klauenartige Abschnitte 91 ', 92' und einen dritten, sich an die Außenkontur des Entladungsgefäßes 1 anschmiegenden und über den Entladungsraum 10 in Längsrichtung der Lampe erstreckenden Abschnitt 93' aufweist, der mit den beiden klammerartigen oder klauenartigen Abschnitten 91 ', 92' durch eine Schweißung verbunden ist. Die klammerartigen oder klauenartigen Abschnitte 91', 92' sind jeweils in einer der Nuten 13 bzw. 14 aimeordnet und sind mit Klemmsitz oder nach Art einer Schnapp- oder Rastverbindung in diesem Bereich an dem Entladungsgefäß 1 fixiert. Die Abschnitte 91 ' bis 93' der Zündhilfe 9' bestehen aus Metalldrähten, insbesondere aus einer Chrom-Eisen-Aluminiumlegierung mit der Bezeichnung CrFeAl 139. Alternativ können alle Abschnitte 91' bis 93' oder einzelne Abschnitte, beispielsweise der Abschnitt 93', der Zündhilfe 9' auch aus einem schmalen Blechstreifen gefertigt werden. Die Zündhilfe 9" befindet sich im Zwischenraum zwischen dem Entladungsgefäß 1 und dem Außenkolben 15. Es besteht eine kapazitive Kopplung zwischen der Zündhilfe 9' und den Elektroden 2, 3. Während ihres Betriebs ist die Hochdruckentladungslampe horizontal ausgerichtet, so dass die Verbindungsachse der beiden Elektroden 2, 3 in einer horizontalen Ebene angeordnet und die Stromzuführung 6 unterhalb der Lampengefäßes 1, 15 zum Sockel 8 zurückgeführt ist. Der Abschnitt 93' der Zündhilfe 9' verläuft bei dieser Orientierung der Hochdruckentladungslampe unterhalb des Entladungsgefäßes 1 und ist mit der Stromrückführung 6 in einer gemeinsamen vertikalen Ebene angeordnet, so dass die Lichtabschattung durch die Zündhilfe 9' und die Stroinrückführung 6 minimal ist.
Die Erfindung beschränkt sich nicht auf die beiden oben näher erläuterten Ausführungsbeispiele. Die Zündhilfe 9 bzw. 91 kann auch für andere Typen von Hoch- druckentladungslampen, beispielsweise für solche mit quecksilberhaltiger ionisierba- rer Füllung verwendet werden.

Claims

Patentansprüche
1. Hochdruckentladungslampe mit einem abgedichteten Entladungsgefäß (1) und zwei innerhalb des Entladungsgefäßes (1) diametral angeordneten Elektroden (2, 3) zum Erzeugen einer Gasentladung sowie mit einer metallischen Zündhilfe (9; 9'), die außerhalb des Entladungsgefäßes (1) angeordnet ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die metallische Zündhilfe (9; 9') einen ersten
(91 ; 91') und einen zweiten Abschnitt (92; 92') aufweist, die jeweils in einer ringförmig das Entladungsgefäß (1) im Bereich der Elektroden (2, 3) umgebenden Nut (13, 14) angeordnet sind, sowie einen dritten Abschnitt (93; 93') aufweist, durch den der erste (91 ; 91 ') und zweite Abschnitt (92; 92') mitein- ander verbunden sind.
2. Hochdruckentladυngslampe nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die metallische Zündhilfe (9; 9') ) aus Metalldraht oder / und Metaliblech besteht.
3. Hochdruckentladungslampe nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeich- net, dass der erste (91 ) und zweite Abschnitt (92) der Zündhilfe (9) ringförmig oder ringsegmentföπnig ausgebildet sind und das Entladungsgefäß (1) zumindest teilweise umschließen.
4. Hochdruckentladungslampe nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der erste (91') und zweite Abschnitt (92") der Zündhilfe (9') klam- merartig oder klauenartig ausgebildet sind.
5. Hochdruckentladungslampe nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Zündhilfe (9; 9') galvanisch getrennt von den Elektroden (2, 3) angeordnet ist.
6. Hochdruckentladungslampe nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der dritte Abschnitt (93; 93') der Zündhilfe (9; 9') sich entlang der Wand des Entladungsgefäßes (1) in Richtung der Verbindungsachse der Elektroden (2, 3) erstreckt.
7. Hochdruckentladungslampe nach Anspruch 1 oder 7 für den Betrieb in horizontaler Brennlage, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der dritte Abschnitt (93;
J 93') der Zündhilfe (9; 9') bei Ausrichtung der Hochdruckentladungslampe in ihrer horizontalen Brennlage an der Unterseite des Entladungsgefäßes (1) angeordnet ist.
8. Hochdruckentladungslampe nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Hochdruckentladungslampe einen Außenkoben (15) aufweist, der das 0 Entladungsgefäß (1) zumindest im Bereich des Entladungsraumes (10) umschließt, wobei die Zündhilfe (9; 9') im Innenraum des Außenkolbens (15) angeordnet ist.
