Verfahren und Vorrichtung zur Serienherstellung von Kolben für Brennkraftmaschi¬ nen unter GasdruckeinwirkungMethod and device for series production of pistons for internal combustion engines under the effect of gas pressure
The invention relates to a method and a device for series production of a piston for internal combustion engines according to the features of the preamble of patent claim 1.
In the series production of pistons machines are known with casting tools, which represent a negative mold for the piston blank to be produced and which are filled via a feed system with casting melt. These are usually multi-part tools, consisting of two outer mold halves, a one- or multi-part core, which determines the small connecting rod eye facing inner contour of the piston and a casting bottom with a central feeder, the lings facing the combustion chamber surface of Kolbenroh¬ defined in the raw state. While the core and the outer mold halves remain close to one another even after the casting tool has been opened, the pouring tray is moved far away, sometimes up to two meters away from the casting tool, in order to improve access during the removal of the piston blank. The inner surface of the feeder is usually lined with thermally highly insulating material. As a result, the feeder, which is likewise filled with molten casting, is to be kept liquid until complete solidification of the casting in order to provide sufficient melt for the make-up to compensate for the volume contraction during solidification. During the transition of the metal from the liquid to the solid state, the volume decreases by several percent. Since metal-free spaces (blowholes) must be avoided in the product in any case, the feeder is so angeord¬ net that z. B. due to gravity melt can flow out of it in the direction of the piston blank.
In the previous production processes for series production, it is known that after pouring the casting melt into the casting mold a sufficiently long time is waited for, during which not only the casting melt filled into the casting mold completely solidifies, but also that part of the casting melt, which is located in the feeder. Only when the casting melt has solidified in the feeder or has at least formed a loadable edge shell which can hold the still liquid feeder contents in position may the mold, which is multipartite, be opened and the piston blank removed. For this period, that is, from filling the casting melt into the casting mold until the mold is opened (so-called solidification time), fixed times are predetermined depending on the size of the piston blank to be produced. Only after expiration of this time and other times necessary to prepare the casting mold for the next casting operation can the subsequent casting operation begin.
The invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a method for series production of a piston for internal combustion engines, with which the quality of the piston can be increased significantly er¬.
This object is solved by the features of claim 1.
Einen besonders stabilen Prozess erhält man, wenn ausgehend von einem an sich bekannten Kokillengusswerkzeug (Kolbengießwerkzeug) einAccording to the invention, it is provided that after the casting of the piston blank, the opening of the feeder, in particular of the end of the feeder sleeve which is open at the top, is acted on by a gas pressure acting on the casting melt. This has the advantage that the previously known and proven in the mass production of piston chill casting is associated with the advantages of the squeeze casting process, in which the structure of the casting melt solidifies under pressure. A particularly stable process is obtained if, starting from a per se known Kokillengusswerkzeug (piston casting tool) a
Casting floor with collar feeder is used. Exploited here is the large sealing surface between the mouth of the feeder and the piston, represented by the collar and the fact that the mouthpiece of the feeder sleeve conforms under internal pressure to the inner wall of the feeder collar and thereby safely separates the pressure chamber from the atmosphere. In the opening of the upwardly open end of the feeder sleeve, a gas pressure is passed, which is supplied for example by a pressure line for a gas, such as nitrogen. The casting melt filled into the chill casting tool is subjected to the gas pressure via the feeder sleeve before it solidifies and / or after the partial solidification of the casting melt. It is provided that the pressure line during the filling of the Kolbengießwerkzeuges with the molten casting is open to the environment. The time at which the gas pressure is applied may vary and vary according to specifiable criteria. On the one hand, it is provided that the gas pressure is generated already after filling but before solidification of the casting melt. At this very early selected pressure load of the casting melt affects the Gas pressure almost on all areas of the filled Gießscrimelze in the Kolbengießwerk¬ convincing, so that the hub structure of the piston blank can also have an effect. In this way, the areas of the piston blank which are further away from the feeder sleeve can be influenced in a targeted manner in their structure, whereby, however, care must be taken to ensure that the piston mold closes very well and tightly and the gate must solidify very early, so that the gas pressure can actually rise the pourable melt present in the piston casting tool can have an effect and it is prevented that molten casting can pass outwardly from the piston casting tool as a result of the pressurization. The solidification under gas pressure is known to lead to a very dense, ie almost completely void-free structure, since the volume deficit during solidification is made more secure by the acting gas pressure. While in normal chill casting only the hydrostatic pressure generated by the feeder acts, the gas pressure is added here. In pure gravity casting, the pressure which drives the melt to the solidification front results from the hydrostatic pressure of a melt column of 200 to 50 mm. In the course of solidification, the effective height decreases as the solidification front moves towards the surface of the feeder. With additional application of gas pressure, each bar pressure corresponds to an additional height of metal column of about 3 m. Since even small changes in the Spei¬ serhöhe lead to a better quality, it comes even at low additional pressurization to a massive increase in the homogeneity of the casting.
A preferred embodiment of the invention can be seen in the fact that after filling the piston casting tool, the formation of an edge shell a solidified casting melt is waited for. This edge shell made of solidified foundry melt has the advantage that thereby the gas pressure acting on the not yet solidified foundry melt is separated from the environment and thus prevents casting melt from escaping from the piston casting tool.
In the described method steps with the admission of the casting melt with gas pressure, it is possible to keep the pressurization constant over the entire period of time or alternatively to regulate, wherein it is particularly advantageous to increase the gas pressure in the period between the beginning and end of the pressurization, so that the pressure is increased with increasing solidification in order to obtain a uniform structure of the solidifying casting melt.
Furthermore, it is provided that the cast melt will be added during the filling into the piston casting tool and / or after the partial solidification. The addition of fiber material has the advantage that all or only certain Regions of the piston blank are reinforced by the addition of the fiber material, which is particularly advantageous that the fiber material is supplied only from a time after a peripheral shell has formed from solidified casting melt. If, for example, the bowl rim and / or the ring field of the later piston is to be reinforced with the fibers, the solidification of the filled casting melt in the hub area should also be awaited.
Finally, it should be pointed out that in order to improve the tightness of the Spei¬ serhülse these press by means of the gas pressure and / or optionally other means against the piston head and in the feeder collar. As a further means come here, for example, hydraulically acting actuators into consideration.
In the figure, an embodiment of the invention is shown and described as follows, wherein the inventive method is not limited to this embodiment.
Reference numeral 1 designates a casting tool that, depending on the geometric design of the piston to be produced, consists of a plurality of molds (partial molds). These parts; of the casting tool 1 are shown here only schematically, so that it is, for example, a core 2 for the interior and a core 3 for the bolt hole. The üb¬ rige, outer mold (or casting halves) are present, but not further described here be¬. In a manner known per se, casting melt is introduced into the casting mold 1 via a feed device, so that the free areas around the cores and casting molds are filled with molten casting. By means of a special embodiment of the pouring bottom and the feeder sleeve, a wall or collar 4 is formed around the feeder which holds the feeder contents in position when the casting tool is opened to realize short cycle times according to the method at a time at which the contents of the "collar feeder" 5 In this case, a peripheral edge 4 is formed on which a collar feeder 5 can be placed.
Within the collar feeder 5, the casting melt 6 can rise to a desired level, so that above the filled casting melt 6 after the completion of the feed of casting melt within the collar feeder 5, a free space is created via which the casting melt is subjected to a gas pressure , The gas for this purpose is supplied via a pressure line 7, which is open during the filling process of the casting melt relative to the environment, so that a pressure equalization can take place. After completion of the filling process of the casting melt, a gas pressure is generated by suitable means, the then can act on the melt surface in the collar feeder 5 via the pressure line 7.
