Abstract

The invention relates to an input device for inputting signals into an electronic unit, during which the transfer of user-induced position data and/or discrete data is made possible in a simplified and intuitive form. To this end, a touch panel is provided for inputting position data via which position data of an input object (finger, stylus) located, from above, in contact with the touch panel (1, 16) are transmitted to the processor. In addition, at least two specifically allocated touch areas (6) are provided via which discrete inputs made using an input object can be transmitted to the processor. The touch areas (6) are integrated in the touch panel (1, 16) and form a portion thereof, and at least one tactile means (4, 26) is situated underneath the touch panel (1, 16) whereby giving a tactile response according to the force exerted by an input object in a touch area (6).
