Definitions

  • This invention relates to a dishwasher with an improved washing performance and a control method thereof.
  • the washing process is accomplished by spraying water, simultaneously or consecutively, from the lower and upper sprayers to the items to be washed which are placed onto the lower and upper baskets. Since, generally, very dirty dishes are placed to the lower basket and slightly dirty dishes to the upper basket; the lower sprayer is supplied with high-pressure water while the upper sprayer is supplied with low-pressure water. Usually, the lower and upper sprayers are operated consecutively, and by alternately supplying the sprayers, water and energy is used to heat the water are saved.
  • an interval program is selectable; in a first interval only the upper spraying lever and in a secund interval only the lower spraying lever is supplying rinsing liquid and the number of revolutions of the pump motor is adjustable as a function of the respective interval.
  • the revolution rate of the circulating pump is regulated according to the varying supply amount, during a changeover from one sprayer or group of sprayers to another.
  • the aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher and a control method thereof wherein water is saved and the washing performance is increased.
  • Fig.l is a schematic representation of a dishwasher.
  • Fig.2 is a graph illustrating the change of the number of revolutions of the circulating pump according to the active periods of the spraying arms, in a dishwasher in accordance with the current state of the art.
  • FIG.3 is a graph illustrating the change of the number of revolutions of the circulating pump according to the active periods of the spraying arms, in a dishwasher in accordance with the application of the present invention.
  • FIG.4, 5, 6 - are graphs illustrating the change of the number of revolutions of the circulating pump according to the active periods of the spraying arms, in a dishwasher in accordance with alternative applications of the present invention.
  • the elements shown in the drawings have been each numbered as follows:
  • the dishwasher (1) comprises a washing tank (2) where the items to be washed are placed in, a sump (3) at the bottom of the washing tank (2), where the water in the washing tank (2) accumulates during the washing process, a heater (7) used to heat the washing water, which preferably operates during the circulation of the washing water, a circulating pump (4) which supplies the water in the sump (3) back to the washing tank (2) and, is driven by an electi ie motor with variable speed, a multi-way valve (5) at the outlet of the circulating pump (4) which provides that the water to be send to both or either one of the lower and upper supply lines, a discharge pump (6) whereby the water accumulated in the sump (3) at the end of the washing process, is discharged out of the dishwasher (1), a filter (8) which prevents the dirt particles from reducing the washing efficiency by entering the circulation, more than one baskets (11, 1 1 1) where the items that are washed are placed, a high flow rate spraying ami (12) used for very dirty dishes, wherein the water is
  • Nl is the number of revolutions of the circulating pump (4), for the spraying arms (12, 112) to spray water at a high flow rate.
  • N2 is the number of revolutions of the circulating pump (4), for the spraying arms (12, 112) to spray water at a low flow rate.
  • Tl is the predetermined cycle time of the spraying arm (12) which mostly sprays water at a high flow rate, during consecutive operating.
  • T2 is the predetermined cycle time of the spraying arm (112) which mostly sprays water at a low flow rate, during consecutive operating.
  • [031] P is the changeover period when the cycle time of one of the spraying arms (12, 112) ends and the cycle time of the other one begins.
  • #T1 is the predetermined time interval in one cycle time (Tl) of the high flow rate spraying arm (12) when the said spraying arm is supplied with water at a low flow rate, during consecutive operating.
  • #T2 is the predetermined time interval in one cycle time (T2) of the low flow rate spraying arm (112) when the said spraying arm is supplied with water at a high flow rate, during consecutive operating.
  • the dishwasher (1) control method with respect to the present invention while the spraying arms ( 12, 1 12) are operated consecutively, the circulating pump (4) is operated at a high revolution rate (N 1 ) for a period of Tl - ffT ⁇ whereas it is operated at a low revolution rate (N2j lor a period of T1, considering the high lluvv rate spraying arm (12).
  • N2j lor a period of T1 considering the high lluvv rate spraying arm (12).
  • the cycle time (Tl ) of the high flow rate spraying arm (12) ends and the cycle time (T2) of the low flow rate spraying arm (112) begins.
  • the circulating pump (4) is operated at a low revolution rate (N2) for a period of T2 - #T2 whereas it is operated at a high revolution rate (Nl) for a period of #T2.
  • N2 revolution rate
  • Nl revolution rate
  • the cycle time (T2) of the low flow rate spraying ami (112) ends and the cycle time (Tl) of the high flow rate spraying ami (12) begins (Fig.3).
  • the low flow rate spraying arm (112) is operated while the circulating pump (4) is at a low revolution rate (N2), whereas the revolution rate is increased (Nl) at the end of the cycle time (T2) for a period of #T2 and, at the changeover point (P) while the circulating pump (4) continues to operate at a high revolution rate (Nl), the cycle time (Tl) of the high flow rate spraying arm (12) begins, and it ends with the same revolution rate (N l ) (Fig. 5).
  • the spraying arms (12, 112j are operated simultaneously at the same revolution rate (N2) by also supplying the low flow rate spraying arm (1 12) via a multi-way valve (5) during the period #T1 when the flow rate of the water sprayed by the high flow rate spraying arm (12) is reduced, and similarly, that for the period #T2, the spraying arms (12, 1 12) arc operated simultaneously at the same revolution rate (Nl) by also supplying the high flow rate spraying arm (12) via a multi-way valve (5) during the period #T2 when the flow rate of the water sprayed by the low flow rate spraying ami (12) is increased, and thereby it is accomplished to prevent the noise generated at the multi-way valve (5) and water-carrying pipes as a result of the sudden flow acceleration at the time of a changeover from one spraying arm (12, 112) to another during consecutive operating (Fig. 6).
  • the subject of the present invention it is achieved to prevent the noise generated as a result of the sudden flow acceleration at the time of a changeover from one spraying arm (12, 112) to another, by fixing the number of revolutions of the circulating pump (4) during the changeover and, to increase the washing performance by changing the revolution rate of the circulating pump (4) at predetermined time intervals inside the cycle times of the spraying arms (12, 112).
