Abstract

The present invention refers to a non-permanent air conditioning system, in which the traditional internal (1) and external units (2) are connected at a short distance by means of a thin shaped plate (3) capable of resting as a saddle on the lower horizontal edge of a window; it being also provided that the hydraulic and electrical connection is entirely made by means of a thin flexible sheath (5), which therefore-likewise the thin plate-does not prevent the window provided with the system of the invention from closing.

Description

Description
Non-permanent window air conditioning system for bungalows, campers and similar applications.
The present patent application refers to a non-permanent window air conditioning system for bungalows, campers and similar applications. The state of the art includes non-permanent air conditioning systems designed to operate in hot months only. Normally, they comprise an external unit designed for installation on balconies and an internal unit installed in the room to be conditioned, mutually joined by means of bulky connections that are necessary for water/cooling gas circulation and electrical power supply. Current air conditioners of this type, however, are impaired by the considerable size of the internal and external units and of the flexible pipes used to connect the aforementioned units. Moreover, although they are not designed for permanent use, the ideal installation mode requires drilling a large hole on the wall of the room to be conditioned, near a window, for the pipes used to connect the external and the internal unit. Without the hole, the user would have to leave the window partially open for the pipes, thus producing a flow of external air in the room, which would for sure reduce the efficacy of the air conditioning system. In view of the above, the use of this kind of systems is practically impossible in bungalows or campers, in spite of the need for air conditioning during the hottest months of the year. Within the consolidated technological state of the art, the purpose of the present invention is to devise a non-permanent window air conditioning system provided with compact construction and size and, most of all, characterised by easy, efficient installation. Based on the present invention, the two small units of the air conditioning system are joined by means of a metal plate shaped as a saddle, which rests astride the lower horizontal edge of the window, without using external fixing means. Once the plate has been placed in the aforementioned position, the external unit of the air conditioning system of the invention hangs from the plate on the outside of the window and the internal unit hangs on the inside of the same window, that is to say in perfect operating position. Moreover, it must be noted that the aforementioned metal plate is very thin to close the window normally, in spite of the presence of the plate astride the lower horizontal edge of the window. Special attention has been also paid to the connections between the two units of the air conditioning system of the invention. In fact, the water and gas pipes, as well as the power supply cord, have been miniaturised and inserted into an ordinary flexible sheath with flat, thin shape. Therefore, the sheath can rest above or aside the metal place, without preventing the window from being closed. It appears evident that the air conditioning system of the invention can be removed easily and rapidly since no stable fixing means are used. In order to remove the air conditioning system, the user must lift and remove the plate that connects the two units from the horizontal edge of the window. Another advantage of the air conditioning system of the invention is represented by the fact that the two units of the system are perfectly connected by the flexible sheath; because of this, to use the system of the invention, the user only needs to place the system in the operating position and connect it to the electrical mains. In view of the preferential use of the system of the invention - that is to say episodic use during holidays or travelling - the electrical absorption of the system has been limited to 400/500 Watts in order to ensure compliance with the usual power standards (normally 1 Kw) offered to each camping station. Regardless of the fact that the air conditioning system of the invention has been designed for preferential use in bungalows or campers, no limitations exist for other episodic uses, such as in the cabin of parked lorries or in construction site sheds. Moreover, the air conditioning system of the invention could also be used in a permanent location, after securing the plate to the window with stable fixing means. For major clarity the description of the invention continues with reference to the enclosed drawings, with are intended for purposes of illustration only and not in a limiting sense, whereby:
- Figure 1 is a diagrammatic side view of the system of the invention; - Figure 2 is an axonometric view of the system of the invention in operating position astride a window;
- Figure 3 is a cross-section of the sheath that contains the pipes used to connect the two units of the system. With reference to the aforementioned figures, the system of the invention normally comprises an internal unit (1 ) and an external unit (2) connected at short distance in parallel position by means of a thin metal plate
(3) with overturned-U shape, capable of resting as a saddle on the lower horizontal edge of an ordinary window (F), as shown in Figure 2. As shown in Figure 1 , the two units (1 , 2) of the system of the invention are fixed to the plate (3) by means of ordinary screws (4). The two units (1 , 2) are mutually connected by means of a flat flexible sheath (5) preferably designed to rest over the plate (3), which houses the water pipe (6), the gas circuit pipe (7), the cooling gas capillary tube (8) and the electrical power supply cable (9) side by side, as shown in the cross- section view of Figure 3. Although the enclosed drawings show the two units (1 , 2) connected by means of a single shaped plate (3), alternatively the plate can comprise two elements, each element preferably with reduced width. Moreover it must be noted that the plate (3) can be made of metal or other suitable plastic materials.
