Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the mounting of an outdoor machine and an indoor machine at substantially the same level thus preventing a lowering of the air conditioning efficiency caused by the difference of height of the outdoor machine and the indoor machine by disposing a refrigerant piping approximately horizontally thus restricting the pressure difference caused by the deadweight of a refrigerant which flows in the refrigerant piping. SOLUTION: A separate-type air conditioner includes an outdoor machine 12 equipped with a compressor which is installed in the outside vicinity of a window and an indoor machine 11 which is installed in the indoor vicinity of the window by means of an installation device 10. These machines are connected by means of a flexible refrigerant piping 15. This refrigerant piping 15 is connected to the outdoor machine 12 and the indoor machine 11 at the time of shipping them from a factory and a refrigerant is filled in an entire refrigeration circuit. At the time of installation, although the flexible refrigerant piping 15 is arranged in an approximately U-shaped piping, eventually the level of the indoor machine 11 and the level of the outdoor machine 12 have substantially become the same so that the pressure fluctuation caused by the deadweight of the refrigerant which flows in the refrigerant piping 15 is cancelled and a constant amount of refrigerant can be supplied to an indoor heat exchanger.

[0003] The installation of such a separation type air conditioner is as follows.
An outdoor unit is installed on a veranda or the like or mounted on an outdoor wall, an indoor unit is mounted on an indoor wall, etc., and a piping hole for passing refrigerant piping is formed in a wall on which the indoor unit is mounted. And the indoor unit are connected by the refrigerant pipe.

[0005] Further, even with the same separation type air conditioner,
A configuration has also been proposed in which an outdoor unit is provided with an engaging member, hung on a window frame, and the indoor unit is mounted on a wall or the like on the indoor side. In this case,
The refrigerant pipe is connected to the outdoor unit and the indoor unit through a window, and thereafter, various operations at the time of installation are performed in the same manner as the operation described above.

However, in the above configuration, the outdoor unit is mounted on the indoor wall or the like, and the outdoor unit is mounted on the veranda or the outdoor wall. And the difference in height of the mounting position between the outdoor unit and the indoor unit and the length of the refrigerant pipe differ from case to case, and there are the following problems.

That is, in order to obtain a certain air conditioning characteristic such as cooling efficiency, the amount of refrigerant supplied to the indoor heat exchanger (the amount of liquefied refrigerant in cooling operation, and the amount of refrigerant liquefied in heating operation, , A high-temperature gas refrigerant) must be constant, and the temperature of the refrigerant must be constant.

However, when the height difference between the outdoor unit and the indoor unit is different, the indoor unit is usually mounted at a higher position than the outdoor unit, so that the indoor unit moves from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit by the siphon principle or by the weight of the refrigerant. The pressure of the refrigerant pipe through which the refrigerant flows increases, and the pressure of the refrigerant pipe through which the refrigerant flows from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit decreases.

Therefore, even if a fixed amount of refrigerant is supplied to the indoor heat exchanger, the refrigerant is sucked by the pressure of the refrigerant pipe from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit, and passes without sufficient heat exchange in the indoor heat exchanger. And the heat exchange efficiency of the indoor heat exchanger is reduced.

[0010] The decrease in heat exchange efficiency due to such a height difference is as follows.
During the cooling operation, the refrigerant that has exchanged heat in the indoor heat exchanger is condensed and directed toward the outdoor unit, which is remarkable.

On the other hand, even if a fixed amount and a constant temperature of the refrigerant are supplied from the outdoor unit to the outdoor unit, if the refrigerant pipes have different lengths, the refrigerant flows through the refrigerant pipes when flowing through the refrigerant pipes. Therefore, the amount of heat exchange with outside air differs. Therefore,
The amount and temperature of the refrigerant supplied to the indoor heat exchanger differ depending on the refrigerant pipe length.

[0013] For this reason, in a model in which the amount of refrigerant supplied from the outdoor unit is small, that is, in a small air conditioner used in an apartment or the like, the influence of the length of the refrigerant pipe becomes remarkable.
