Gate means , preferably or use with barrier elements
The present invention concerns gate means preferably for use with barrier elements for delimitation of traffic lanes or serving as side barriers on roads or streets.
A problem with the barrier elements used today along our roads and especially along sides in curves or other exposed places is that it is difficult to break through these, for example, if an accident has resulted in that a car has ended up outside of the barrier elements in the environment. Rescue personnel then have to climb over these elements in order to reach the closest positioned vehicle. Today more and more middle markers or delimitations are used in the form of wire-railings and in certain places these have shown less effective and in these places it could be needed some sort of protection of rigid type and higher height, for example for catching larger vehicles, such as lorries and transport lorries. Due to this a sparsely placement of such barrier elements that otherwise is used along the roads as middle delimitation has occurred as the possibilities to pass or climb over these are difficult for one thing because of the height and weight of the barrier elements.
The object of the present invention is therefore to set aside the above problem and to provide means of .the above type, which makes it possible to pass through the barrier elements with easy operation by rescue personnel or the like. The characterising features of the invention is stated in the following claims.
Thanks to the invention it is provided gate means preferably for use with barrier elements of the preamble type, by means of which with easy operation can open a gate element of the gate means so a free passage easily can be provided by the rescue personnel and the like and which means in an excellent way
fulfils its objects at the same time as it is relatively inexpensive and easy to manufacture.
By means of the gate means according to the invention it is possible to in any suitable place on a road stretch where a number of barrier elements are provided and fixed to each other disengage one of these barrier elements where an opening is desired by means of disengaging the barrier element in question and instead attach the gate means according to the invention, which then shows the same length as the already existing barrier element .
By means of the invention it is also possible now to use previously known barrier elements as delimitation between to road lanes on suitable road stretches and at the same time it is possible to provide on regular distances from each other gate means according to the invention. By means of the possibility to open the gate element of the gate means over an angle of 180° so that it in an open position is situated anily parallel with already existing barrier elements the gate element constitute no obstacle for passage of traffic.
The gate element may also by its unique design be opened and rotated in either a first or second direction depending on its position on the roadway and its condition. By means of the specific suspension of the gate element, helping personnel may also without special tools with ease open the gate element in question after possible unlocking by means of special locks with keys the rescue personnel always bring in order to stop unauthorized use.
The present invention is described in more detail below by means of a preferred embodiment and references to the attached drawing, in which
Fig. 1 shows a schematic side view of gate means according to the present invention in closed position, which is connected to adjacent barrier elements,
Fig. 2 shows a view from above of the gate means in Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 shows three partial views of a part comprised in a hinge on the gate element, and
Fig. 4 shows one part comprised in a hinge on the framing element.
As is shown in the drawing a preferred embodiment according to the invention concerns gate means which preferably is provided for use with different kinds of barrier elements 1. The gate means comprises a separate, as replacement for a barrier element
1 in question, formed gate element 2, which is position fixable in already existing barrier elements at framing elements 5, 6 adjacent to sides 3, 4 of the gate element 2. The framing elements 5, 6 is attachable by means of locking pins 7, 8 to the framing elements 5, 6 and protruding loops 9-12 of adjacent barrier elements 5, 6 support in turn by means of hinges 13, 14 the gate element 2 itself on both sides at the same time as either the first or the second hinge 13; 14 is openable for swing opening of the gate element 2 all the way to 180° in a first or second direction. This is achievable due to respective vertical axis of rotation 15, 16 of the hinges 13, 14 are diagonally positioned relative each other seen over the thickness of the gate element. There are adjustment screws 40 for example between two barrier elements 1 for adjustment of the framing elements 5, 6 when mounting the gate means, preferably four of them in each framing element 1 so that the gate element
2 is suspended correctly in its hinges 13 and 14.
The gate element 2 is thus position fixable in already existing barrier elements after removal of a first one by means of loops 9-12 and locking pins 7 and 8, which are pushable downwards in vertical direction in the loops 9-12 in the barrier elements 1 and framing elements 5 and 6, respectively, for positioning relative each other.
In order to easily be able to open the gate element 2 the first or the second hinge 13 or 14 will be released by means of a joint link 18 provided with a lever 17 operating adjacent the hinges, which joint link 18 lifts the hinge pins 19-22 in question in the hinges 13; 14 from their supporting, hinging position to a released free position. Hereafter, a swing out of the gate element may easily be done at the same time as this is supported in the hinge 14 on the opposite side. The framing elements 5, 6 which are used in this connection are constituted according to the preferred embodiment by a U-beam 23, 24 where the legs of the ϋ-beam 25-28 has a mutual distance which at least corresponds to the thickness of the barrier elements 1 in question. Respective hinge 13; 14 comprises two hinge pins 19-22 which interact with recesses 29-32 on the framing elements 5, 6, which hinge pins are displaceable in vertical direction by means of the joint links 18 provided with levers at the same time as the upper hinge pins 19-21 show protrusions 33 and 34 with holes for interaction with a lock for locking of a gate element in its closed position.
By means of the positioning of the hinges 13, 14 diagonally relative each other in line with the outside 35-38 of the adjacent barrier elements 1 on both sides of a gate element 2, the gate element is openable to parallel contact against the barrier element 1. In order to ease the opening of the gate element 2 at least one support wheel 39 is centrally arranged under the gate element, which essentially ease its movement both
during a phase of opening and closing.
The gate means according to the invention may with smaller modifications suit in principle any other barrier system and it may also conceivably be used in openings between road traffic tunnels in different traffic directions for rescue teams or other occasional needs. Likewise, parking areas, garages and so on may be conceivable places for setting up of the gate means.
