  • Such mixers are used for various purposes in food preparing processes. For example, they are used to subdivide or chop cooked green vegetables in preparing vegetable soup in said vessel. Such a mixer may also be used to subdivide or chop meat and to prepare puree, etc..
  • a whisk or beater is normally used to whip cream, to mash potatoes or to mash other foodstuffs, to whip or beat sauces and soups, etc..
  • the vessel used may be a cooking vessel, such as a cauldron, having a typical volume of 20 - 200 litres or an unheated vessel of corresponding volume.
  • a serious problem encountered by kitchen personnel in respect of such known mixers is that they are heavy and onerous to move up and down and sideways in and through the food mass present in the vessel. This problem is particularly tangible when producing a mash for instance, due to the sluggishness experienced when moving the mixer sideways.
  • the food preparation time is also relatively long. Although the time taken to prepare the food can be reduced by using a more powerful motor, this would increase the weight of the mixer and therewith make the work involved more onerous or burdensome.
  • the present invention relates to a hand mixer intended for mixing and preparing more or less liquid food in a vessel, wherein the mixer includes a staff- like part which has at one end a tool holder which is adapted to carry different tools, such as a cutting tool, a chopping tool or a whisk, intended for insertion down into the vessel, and wherein the mixer further includes an electric motor for driving a tool carried by said tool holder, and wherein the mixer is characterised in that the electric motor of the tool drive arrangement is a high speed motor that has a maximum speed of at least 20 000 rpm and that is part of a unit which includes a gear arrangement with which said maximum speed can be lowered to a speed appropriate to the tool used.

  • the staff-like part 11 has a length of about 300 - 1000 mm, preferably about 500 mm.
  • the tools 2, 3 fastened temporarily to the tool holder during preparation of the foodstuff also have a length of about 300 - 1000 mm, preferably about 500 mm.
  • the motor 4 is a high-speed motor having a speed of between 20 000 - 60 000 rpm, preferably a speed of about 35 000 rpm.
  • the speed of the motor of a typical hand mixer is about 10 000 rpm.
  • the motor 4 has a power output of 1000 W, which is higher than the power output of the motor of a conventional hand mixer intended for the same purpose, the power output of which is about 500 . This higher power output is achieved by using a compact high-speed motor.
  • Coupled to the motor 4 is a gear arrangement 12 which functions to change and lower the speed of the tool holder, and therewith of the tool attached, to a speed of about 7000 - 13000 lpm, preferably a speed of about 9000 - 11000 rpm, in the absence of load.
  • This tool speed is suitable in enabling a skilled worker to perform his/her work easily and in a smooth and clean fashion, without the foodstuff in question splashing from the vessel.
  • the invention achieves the significant advantage of enabling the weight of the mixer to be reduced to between 1.5 - 2.5 kilograms as compared to the weight of a conventional mixer, which is about 4,0 kg.
  • the motor 4 is encapsulated in a sound-insulating and vibration-free suspension unit, preferably a rubber unit, i.e. a rubber suspension 8.
  • the staff-like part 11 is provided with holes, preferably small air holes, at an appropriate distance from the motor 4.
  • a silencer 6 situated in contact with the upper part of the motor 4 functions to muffle the sound emanating from the intake air to the motor 4 and the gear arrangement 12.
  • a lower silencer 7 is situated in contact with the lower part of the gear arrangement 12. This latter silencer functions to muffle the sound emanating from the air blown from the motor 4 and from the gear arrangement 12.
  • the tools i.e. the cutting tool, chopping tool or whisk, rotate at mutually different speeds.
  • the cutting and chopping tools rotate at the speed afforded by the highspeed motor 4 and the gear arrangement 12, whereas the whisk or beater rotates at a lower speed.
  • the lower speed is obtained through the medium of a further gear arrangement 13 located between one end of the whisk attached to the tool holder and the whisk itself.
  • a speed control actuator 5 is disposed on the envelope surface in the vicinity of the other end of the staff-like part 11 opposite to the end of the tool holder 1, for controlling the speed of a respective tool 2, 3 within one or more predetermined ranges.
  • the actuator 5 may conveniently consist of a knob that is turned appropriately to reduce or to increase the speed of the tool 2, 3. Alternatively, the actuator may consist of a button to increase and reduce the speed. In order to prevent unintentional contact with the speed control actuator 5, a safety fitting 10 is placed over said device.
  • the actual speed control actuator is comprised of a suitable known electronic circuit, not shown.
  • the hand mixer is operated by a skilled worker by hand, with the tool to be used attached to the tool holder.

L'invention porte sur un mixeur domestique pour aliments plus ou moins liquides placés dans un récipient, comportant: un corps cylindrique (11) muni d'un raccord de fixation (1) pour différents ustensiles tels qu'un couteau, un broyeur (2) ou un fouet (3) plongeant dans le récipient, d'un moteur électrique (4) pouvant atteindre 20 000 tours/minute et d'un réducteur (12) permettant d'adapter la vitesse au type d'ustensile utilisé.
