- the present invention relates generally to blade units for wipers of automobiles and, more particularly, to a blade unit for wipers of automobiles which has a structure capable of cleanly wiping a windshield of an automobile by double- wiping the windshield during one wiping motion, and does not leave any scratch on the windshield even when the blade tip thereof is damaged.
- BACKGROUND ART Wipers are mounted to the body of an automobile at a position in front of a windshield so as to ensure the sight of a driver by removing rainwater, snows, dirt and other impurities while the driver drives the automobile.
- wipers are important apparatuses to secure safety while the driver drives the automobile, and are comprised of a drive unit, a wiper arm and a blade unit detachably attached to the wipe arm.
- a conventional blade unit for wipers of automobiles has a blade bracket and a blade which is mounted to the blade bracket.
- the blade has longitudinal grooves formed along both sidewalls thereof to allow the blade to be attached along a blade locking groove of the blade bracket.
- the blade bracket is removably mounted to an end of a wiper arm.
- the conventional blade of the blade unit for wipers has a bar-shaped appearance, and is made of rubber.
- a blade tip is formed along a central axis of a lower surface of the blade to form a sharp edge at which the blade comes into close contact with the outer surface of the windshield to wipe the windshield.
- the conventional blade unit for wipers of automobiles has only one blade tip at the blade to remove impurities from the windshield, the blade unit is difficult to cleanly wipe the windshield. Particularly, when the blade tip is damaged, a scratch may be left on the windshield of the automobile due to the damaged part of the blade tip. Accordingly, the conventional blade unit of the wiper may not cleanly keep the state of the windshield of the automobile. Also, since the blade unit must be replaced with a new one even when the blade tip is slightly damaged, the conventional blade unit forces a user to pay money to frequentiy replace the blade unit with a new one.
- an object of the present invention is to provide a blade unit for wipers of automobiles, which more cleanly wipes a windshield of an automobile by double-wiping the windshield during one wiping motion, and which does not leave any scratch on the windshield even when the blade tip thereof is damaged.
- the present invention provides a blade unit for wipers of automobiles, comprising: a blade mounted to a blade bracket which is detachably attached to an end of a wiper arm, the blade thus being in close contact with an outer surface of a windshield of an automobile to wipe the outer surface of the windshield, the blade comprising: a main blade tip which is formed along a central axis of a lower surface of the blade to be perpendicularly projected downward from the lower surface of the blade; and a plurality of sub-blade tips symmetrically formed along both sides of a linear junction of the lower surface of the blade and the main blade tip, respectively, to be inclined outward and downward in opposite directions.

- the two sub-blade tips 16 and 17 are symmetrically formed along both sides of a linear junction of the lower surface of the blade 13 and the main blade tip 15, respectively, to be inclined outward and downward in opposite directions.
- the sub-blade tips 16 and 17 each have a strip shape with predetermined width and thickness. That is, the two sub-blade tips 16 and 17 are projected downward and outward from the both sides of the linear junction of the lower surface of the blade 13 and the main blade tip 15 at an angle of 45 degree or less relative to the main blade tip 15.
- the wiper arm 11 During a wiping operation of the wiper on a windshield 20, the wiper arm 11 repeatedly swings in opposite directions as shown by the arrows of Figs. 3 and 4.
- the blade bracket 12 When the wiper arm 11 moves to the left as shown in Fig. 3, the blade bracket 12 is tilted counterclockwise at a predetermined angle by a friction force of the main blade tip 15 against the windshield 20. Therefore, prior to a wiping motion of the main blade tip 15, the first sub-blade tip 16 wipes the windshield 20. Thereafter, the main blade tip 15 wipes the windshield 20 which was wiped by the first sub-blade tip 16.
- impurities may be almost completely removed from the windshield 20 by the double-wiping effect of the main blade tip 15 and the first sub-blade tip 16.
- the second sub-blade tip 17 primarily wipes the windshield 20 of the automobile. Thereafter, the main blade tip 15 wipes the windshield 20 which was wiped by the second sub-blade tip 17, thus accomplishing the same effect as that described for the blade 13 with the wiper arm 11 moving to the left.
- the blade 13 does not leave any scratch on the windshield 20 due to the double-wiping of the main blade tip 15 and the first or second blade tip 16, 17. Therefore, the expected lifetime of the blade unit having the blade 13 may be increased.
- the present invention provides a blade unit for wipers of automobiles which has a structure capable of cleanly wiping a windshield of an automobile by double-wiping the windshield during one wiping motion, and does not leave any scratch on the windshield even when the blade tip thereof is damaged.
