  • the present invention relates to production of elements made of conglomerate materials and particularly it refers to a method and machine for manufacturing a panel element made of conglomerate material and element so carried out.
  • extrusion elements typically covering, building, fittings or similar elements constituted by a mixture of powder and/or splinters, granules or similar of materials, generally inorganic, bounded by a polymerized resin.
  • the main drawback of said known methods and machines consists in that it is necessary to mix the powders, the splinters and similar with huge quantity of resins in order to fluidify the mixture to be extruded, so avoiding the inevitable clog of extruders and draw-plates. Consequently the elements so carried out are very expensive and have low mechanical and thermal resistance.
  • An object of the present invention is to propose a method and a machine for manufacturing a panel element made of conglomerate material with low or very low percentage of resin and to provide elements which are very resistant to mechanical and thermal stresses, also thanks to said low percentage of resin.
  • Other object is to propose an element not requiring complicated superficial finishing operations.
  • Further object is to propose a method and a machine for manufacturing an element by injection molding or extrusion.
  • Another object is to propose an element made of material including splinters of nearly every origin and including a low or very low resin percentage.

  • numeral 1 indicates the machine of the present invention including first supply means 11, 12, 15, 13 and second supply means 15 to feed with resin fluid components 2, 3, with powders, splinters, granules, fibers or similar 4, 5 and with an unsaturated fat acid 7, a mixer 16, fit for mixing them in order to obtain a mixture 8.
  • the supply means first 11, 12 and second 15 of the resin components 2, 3 and of the unsaturated fat acid 7, include respective tanks and volumetric pumps flowing into the mixer 16 in order to provide thereto predefined amounts of each resin fluid components and of fat acid.
  • the first supply means 13, 14 of powders, splinters, granules, fibers or similar 4, 5 include at least two separate containers for the powders 4, 5 of organic and inorganic origin. Said first supply means 13, 14 of powders 4, 5 are provided with dispensers whose opening is controlled and with belt load cells to provide predefined quantities of organic and/or inorganic powders 4, 5 to the mixer 16.
  • mixer 16 carries out the mixture 8, which is provided to molding means 18 for obtaining the element 6, through compression means 17 of the type having a cylinder 20 with compression axial screw 21 for extrusion.
  • the machine includes first temperature control means 22 of the mixture 8 positioned upstream the molding means 18.
  • the first temperature control means 22 are provided with circulation means including an interspace or coil of the cylinder 20 wall in which the temperature control means 22 make circulating a cooled liquid for maintaining the mixture 8 below a determined temperature, delaying the consolidation thereof and guaranteeing thus the conditions for an optimal extrusion.
  • the invention further provides that the first temperature control means 22 can be also associated to the mixer 16.
  • the molding means 18 include a drawing head 23 for the mixture 8, fixed at the outlet of extrusion cylinder 20 and fit to confer on said mixture 8 the shape of the element 6.
  • the molding means 18 include downstream the cylinder 20 and the drawing head 23, sizing means 24 of the mixture 8 to confer on the latter the shape of element 6.
  • the sizing means 24 have an elongated tubular shape and they contain a sizing room whose length is determined by the consolidation time for the exit speed of element 6 to calibrate the form thereof and to obtain the full consolidation thereof.
  • the sizing means 24 are provided with second temperature control means 25.
  • the invention provides that the sizing means 24 are made of transparent material to the microwaves and that the second temperature control means 25 include microwaves heaters or, in alternative, it is provided that the sizing means 24 are metallic and that the second temperature control means 25 include electric resistance heaters.
  • the extrusion and molding pressures cause the unsaturated fat acid 7 pouring out from the mixture 8 and forming a lubricating layer between the inner walls of the molding means 18 and the mixture 8 or the element 6, allowing the extrusion and the molding of elements 6 having an high degree of finish beginning from a mixture 8 having a low and a very low percentage of resin.
  • the machine includes collecting means 26 of the unsaturated fat acid 7 which is accumulated outside the mixture and the element, said means including a tray 27 positioned under of the outlet end of sizing means 24 and in connection with the second supply means 15 of the unsaturated fat acid 7.
  • the unsaturated fat acid that remains inside the mixture 8 is esterified by one of the resin components 2, 3, contributing towards the impermeability and the superficial brightness of element 6.
  • the second supply means 15 flow into respective outlet means 19 carried out in proximity of the outlet of cylinder 20.
  • Said outlet means 19 have an annular groove shape and create an interspace of unsaturated fat acid between the mixture 8 and the inner walls of the machine, downstream said outlet means.
  • the molding means 18 include an injection mold 30 fed by a cylinder 20 with axial screw 21 and cooled by the first temperature control means 22.
  • the injection mold 30 is heated for reducing the consolidation times of the element 6 formed therein.
  • the variant of figure 4 differs from the variant of figure 3 in that the compression means 17 include a compression piston 32 and in that there are heating means 31 positioned upstream said piston 32.
  • the operation of the machine and of its variants according to the method object of the present invention includes in sequence: mixing at least two resin component 2, 3 each other and with powders, splinters, granules, fibers or similar 4, 5 to obtain a mixture 8; - supplying an unsaturated fat acid 7 to the mixture 8; molding and consolidating the mixture 8 to obtain the molded element 6.
  • the method provides to mix the unsaturated fat acid 7 with the mixture 8 or to bring the unsaturated fat acid 7 into contact with the mixture 8 in such a way to form a layer of unsaturated fat acid 7 around the mass of mixture 8, minimizing the penetration into. the latter of the acid 7.
  • the method provides to form the mixture 8 to obtain the element 6 through extrusion and/or through drawing, for instance by executing in sequence the extrusion and the drawing or, in alternative, to mold the element 6 by injection molding of mixture 8.
  • mixture 8 It is also provided to heat the mixture 8 above a predefined consolidation temperature during the molding and/or the consolidation for extrusion and/or drawing or the injection molding.
  • the heating of mixture 8 is carried out by microwaves radiance or by conduction heating.
  • the method includes collecting and recycling at least a portion of the unsaturated fat acid 7 after the extrusion or the injection and it provides to obtain a mixture 8 including a percentages in weight of powders or similar 4, 5, of the bi-component resin and of the fat acid 7 respectively between 75% and 95%, between 4% and 35% and at least 0,5%.
  • the mixture 8 includes percentages in weight of powders or similar 4, 5, of the bi-component resin and of the fat acid 7 respectively approximately equal to 89%, 9% and a quantity for reaching 100%; but it is provided, particularly for injection molding, that the resin percentage may decrease till few points of percentage.
  • the method provides to wash the element 6 after the consolidation in order to eliminate possible superficial residual of unsaturated fat acid; in case of extrusion molding, the method provides to cut the element 6 in pieces of desired length.
  • the molded element 6 can be eventually polished, glazed and/or painted.
  • the method provides to use an esterifying component of the resin 2, 3 in excess with respect to the other component 3, 2 for the esterification and the crystallization of the portion of unsaturated fat acid 7, which remains inside the mixture 8 of the molded element 6.
  • the element 6 object of the present invention manufactured by the machine or the method of the invention includes an acid fat unsaturated esterified and crystallized of vegetable, animal, mineral or synthetic origin.
  • Powders, splinters, granules, fibers or similar 4, 5 of the element 6 are organic, for instance vegetable or plastic and/or inorganic, such as metals or stones and similar.
  • the element has elongated shape with nearly constant cross section or has a three- dimensional shape.
  • the element is shaped as a flat, curved or shaped panel, or as a pipe, duct, alveolar or three-dimensional element.
  • the main advantage of the present invention is to provide a method and a machine for manufacturing an element made of conglomerated material, with low or very low resin percentage and to provide elements which are very resistant to mechanical and thermal stresses, also thanks to said low resin percentage.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un élément (6), ce procédé consistant à mélanger au moins deux composants de résine (2, 3) avec des poudres, des éclats de bois, des granulés, des fibres ou similaires (4, 5) pour obtenir un mélange (8), puis à mouler et consolider ce mélange (8) pour obtenir l'élément (6) moulé, un acide gras insaturé (7) étant ajouté au mélange (8) avant le moulage et la consolidation.
