Abstract

L'invention concerne un système de pile à combustible comprenant une pile à combustible agencée dans un logement de pile à combustible permettant de combiner électrochimiquement de l'oxygène fourni de l'extérieur avec de l'hydrogène. Ce système permet de produire de l'énergie électrique à courant direct et de l'eau utilisée comme produit de réaction. Un combustible contenant de l'hydrogène tel qu'un hydrure chimique contenu dans un contenant de combustible reçoit de l'eau comme sous-produit et entre en réaction avec celle-ci de manière à produire de l'hydrogène. L'hydrogène obtenu est fourni à la pile à combustible afin d'assurer son fonctionnement continu sans besoin d'ajouter de l'hydrogène fourni de l'extérieur. L'intégration de l'alimentation en hydrogène dans la pile à combustible permet d'en réduire le poids et le volume et d'effectuer un contrôle chimique interne de la production d'hydrogène de façon à assurer la génération d'énergie électrique et la gestion d'eau interne, ce qui permet de réduire l'émission d'eau sous forme liquide.
