Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for determining the sheen of rice, especially white rice, enabling an objective evaluation of the sheen or the smoothness of the surface of polished grains of rice. To this end, a shearing strain is applied to a quantity of rice and the temporal intervals (T3) of stick-slip effects are determined, said intervals expressing the degree of polish or sheen.
