  • the dark background is obtained by a color automatically including carbon so that the 'sign is no longer individualized and the assembly appears black on an infrared sensor.
  • This embodiment therefore provides effective securing, however the colors containing carbon are necessarily dark, which considerably limits the possibilities of producing a sign which fits into the general design of the ticket comprising this sign.

  • the entire security element is reproduced without inclusion of carbon or with a very low inclusion of carbon.
  • the security sign does not appear or appears very weakly, so that it is easy to see that the document is not authentic.
  • the colors which do not entail carbon inclusion during reproduction by photocopying are light colors which are easily integrated into the design of the security element and of the document.

  • the area of the authentic security element carrying the security material is therefore simply reproduced with its visible colors so that the fraud is revealed without any ambiguity when the reproduced document is exposed to infrared radiation.
  • the security material is applied to a part of the fibers forming the support, for example in the paper constituting a bank note by providing during the manufacture of the paper a proportion of plastic fibers containing the safety material and which are mixed with cellulosic fibers. Provision may also be made to cover fibers with the security material and, if necessary, to cover the security material with a varnish. It will be noted in this connection that the mere presence of fibers absorbing infrared rays and even simply distributed randomly in the paper constitutes in itself a sign of security without it being necessary for these fibers to assume a particular form.

  • a fully transparent pattern in visible light also has the advantage of allowing large positioning tolerances when printing the ticket without detracting from its aesthetics.
