Abstract

L'invention concerne un dispositif d'extinction conçu pour une bougie installée dans un chandelier ou un support similaire. Ce système d'extinction a pour fonction d'éteindre la flamme lorsque la bougie s'est consumée jusqu'à une certaine hauteur. Le système d'extinction décrit est constitué d'un manchon métallique fendu, souple, qui comprend une pluralité de languettes élastiques à une de ses extrémités. Lorsque le manchon se trouve dans sa forme initiale, les languettes, qui sont estampées de manière à se replier radialement vers le centre du manchon par effet ressort, se referment, formant un cône sensiblement clos à l'extrémité du manchon. La forme et la dimension du manchon sont conçues de manière à permettre le positionnement du manchon sur l'extérieur d'une bougie (de paraffine, de cire ou une bougie combustible de type analogue), à la hauteur à laquelle la bougie doit s'éteindre. Lors du montage du manchon sur la bougie, les languettes fléchissent de manière élastique vers l'extérieur, afin de permettre le passage de la bougie dans le manchon, ce dernier entourant étroitement la bougie. Lorsque la bougie s'est consumée jusqu'au niveau des languettes, ces dernières se replient vers le centre sous l'effet de leur estampage et de leur effet ressort (forme initiale). Lorsqu'elles sont ainsi repliées, les languettes se referment étroitement sur le dessus et le tour de la flamme et étouffent ainsi le feu.
