Abstract

Disclosed is a refrigerator, on the housing of which a function display panel (4) indicating functional states and/or operational parameters of the refrigerator is disposed. Said function display panel (4) is provided with electrically charged pigment carriers (8, 9) which are movable under the influence of an electric field and a plurality of electrodes (11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17) which apply an electric field to the pigment carriers (8, 9, 14) and each of which is assigned to one display element of the function display panel (4).

The refrigerator with function display

The present invention relates to a refrigeration appliance with a thermally insulating housing and a housing mounted on the function display panel for displaying operating states and / or operating parameters of the refrigeration device.

Such a function display fields conventionally include a plurality of light emitting elements such as incandescent lamps, light emitting diodes, etc., or a liquid crystal display.

The luminous elements need to operate, are constantly supplied with energy, which increases the power consumption of the refrigerator. According to a first embodiment, the display panel comprises two types of pigment carriers which each carry opposite electric charge and having different colors. According to a second embodiment, the display panel comprises one type of pigment carriers which has an electric dipole moment and contains two different pigments, one of which is disposed in the vicinity of the electric positive pole and the other near the electrical negative pole. Such a pigment carrier is liable under the influence of an electric field to perform a rotational movement in which the dipole moments align in the field direction, respectively. By means of electrodes that generate differently oriented from a surface normal of the function display panel fields, not only the pure colors of the two pigments, but also transitional tones can be displayed in this configuration.

Among the electrodes of the display panel are necessarily those that are alternately connected to a positive and a negative supply voltage, to effect a color change of the respective electrode associated with the display element. With the inventive refrigeration apparatus, however, electrodes may be present, which are firmly connected to a positive and a negative supply voltage, so that the color of their associated display panel st u nveränderlich i.
