Abstract

The invention relates to a method for holding taut the weft thread (5) in the blending tube (4) of the main jet (1) of an air-jet loom and to an air-jet loom for carrying out said method. The aim of the invention is to eliminate the air stream that acts approximately over the entire length of the main jet (1) and has a detrimental effect on the structure of the weft thread (5) when the latter is idle in the main jet (1), whilst holding taut the weft thread (5) in said main jet (1). To achieve this, during the idle phase of the weft thread (5), the air stream only acts on the front end (5a) of the latter in the blending tube of the main jet.

Description

The invention relates to a method for keeping a weft thread in the mixing tube of the main nozzle of an air jet weaving machine, according to which a length of the weft thread, which is preferably supplied by a prewinder, is acted upon in the mixing tube of the main nozzle by an air stream exerting a tensile force on the weft thread, which air flow is below is at a predetermined pressure level.
The invention further relates to an air jet weaving machine for carrying out the method with at least one pneumatically actuated weft thread insertion means having a mixing tube, with at least one controllable valve operatively connected to the weft thread insertion means via a pressure line for acting on the length section of a weft thread preferably supplied by a prewinder in the mixing tube with a predetermined pressure level of an air flow, with at least one pneumatic pressure source and with a programmable weaving machine control for controlling the at least one controllable valve.
As is generally known, the weft thread to be inserted into the shed is made available to the pneumatically acting weft thread insertion means, hereinafter referred to as the main nozzle, with a predetermined length on air jet looms.
A length section of the weft thread to be inserted into the shed is located in the mixing tube of the main nozzle, while a further length section of the weft thread is located between the main nozzle and the thread store and on the thread store itself and is held on the thread store by suitable means for the duration of at least one weaving cycle , The length section of the weft thread located in the mixing tube of the main nozzle is kept stretched with the aid of an air flow acting in the direction of the longitudinal center axis of the mixing tube.
If several main nozzles are used to produce a fabric, the time to keep the weft thread stretched is usually increased by an amount that can span several weaving cycles.
Depending on the structure of the weft threads, keeping the weft thread stretched over a longer period of time can lead to damage, which occurs in particular as weft thread breaks, which become apparent as a change in the thread structure and which ultimately lead to decisions to limit the area of use of the air jet weaving machine.
The object of the invention is to avoid the aforementioned disadvantages.
Erfindungsgemäß wird die Aufgabe dadurch gelöst, dass ein unter einem vorbestimmtenAccording to the invention the object is achieved in that a below a predetermined
Pressure level P2 standing air flow for a predetermined period of time at an angle that is greater than zero degrees to the longitudinal center axis of the mixing tube on the end portion of the length section of a weft thread held in the mixing tube of the main nozzle.
The predetermined period of time for the loading of the weft end area corresponds at least to the duration of a weaving cycle.
In other words, the duration of exposure to the weft end area is greater than a weaving cycle if, depending on the pattern, several main nozzles are used to produce a fabric.
It is essential to the invention that the air flow acting on the weft end region is emitted at an angle to the longitudinal center axis of the mixing tube. The front end of the weft thread is thus deflected from approximately the plane of the longitudinal center axis of the mixing tube. The air flow acting on the weft end area thus holds the Weft stretched from the thread storage device to the deflection point in the mixing tube. Up to the deflection point in the mixing tube, the structure of the weft thread is not affected by the so-called holding air. The length of the deflected end of the weft thread is defined such that it can be cut off by the warp threads after the weft thread has been inserted into the shed and after it has tied. The weft thread end area with its structure, which is changed by the holding air, for example, is therefore not part of the fabric produced.
To carry out the method features, it is provided according to the invention that the mixing tube of the main nozzle has a device in the region of its free end which deflects the front end of the weft thread from the plane of the longitudinal center axis of the mixing tube by means of an air stream.
Dazu ist ein die Wandung des Mischrohres, z.B. rechtwinklig zur Längsmittenachse desFor this purpose, the wall of the mixing tube, e.g. perpendicular to the longitudinal center axis of the
DerMixing tube, penetrating inlet duct with outlet and an inlet of an outlet duct arranged diametrically opposite the outlet of the inlet duct are provided. The
The inlet channel is connected via a pressure line to a valve which can be controlled by the weaving machine control.
Alternatively, the device can consist of a separate connecting piece which is connected to the free end of the mixing tube or it can consist of a separate intermediate piece which is integrated into the mixing tube. Here, too, the connection piece or the intermediate piece has an inlet channel with an outlet and an inlet of an outlet channel arranged diametrically opposite the outlet of the inlet channel.
In a preferred embodiment of the device, the center axis of the inlet and outlet channels is arranged transversely to the longitudinal center axis of the mixing tube.
The advantage achieved with the solution according to the invention essentially consists in the fact that the structural changes resulting from the holding air are limited to the weft thread end region and that such an end region is not contained in the fabric produced. The invention is explained below using an exemplary embodiment. The attached drawing shows in Figure 1 a perspective view of the main nozzle 1 of an air jet loom in longitudinal section.
The main nozzle 1 comprises the injector 3 which can be screwed into the mixing tube body 2 and the mixing tube 4 connected to the mixing tube body 2.
In the area of the free end of the mixing tube 4, a device is provided according to the invention which allows the front end 5a of a weft thread 5 to be deflected from approximately the plane of the longitudinal center axis 4a of the mixing tube 4 by means of an air stream in the direction of the vertically running longitudinal center axis 17 of the device. The direction arrow, symbolically represented as pressure line 8, shows the direction of flow of the air flow. In detail, the device consists of an inlet channel 6, preferably penetrating the wall 4b of the mixing tube 4, and an inlet 7a of an outlet channel 7 arranged diametrically opposite the outlet 6a of the inlet channel 6.
The pressure P2 of the air flow supplied by a pressure source 10 is applied to a valve 9, which e.g. is an electromagnetically controlled valve.
Zum Verständnis der erfindungsgemäßen Lösung sei noch erwähnt, dass, nachdem derThe valve 9 is connected to the control electronics 11 of the loom via the control line 12 in a signal-transmitting manner. At a further valve 13, which is also connected to the control electronics 11 of the weaving machine in a signal-transmitting manner via the control line 14, the pressure P 1 of an air flow acting on the weft thread 5 impulsively via the pressure line 15 is present, which air flow is symbolically represented by an arrow. This air flow serves to insert the weft thread into the shed. To understand the solution according to the invention, it should also be mentioned that after the
Zeichnungs-LegendeWeft thread 5 is entered into the shed by means of the air flow at pressure level Pl, the air flow in line 15 is blocked via control electronics 11 and valve 12, and then the other air flow via valve 9 of device 6, 7 for keeping the weft thread 5 straight is fed. These processes are constantly repeated during the manufacture of a fabric. Drawing Legend
