Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the experimental determination of the thermal diffusity of solids, liquids and bulk products. The measurement is carried out by means of a Joule heat source which is embedded in the sample, and at least one temperature probe located at a known distance from the source. The time difference between the starting pulse and the maximum temperature of the probe, during a pulsed heat output from the heat source, represents the quantity for the desired variable. It is also appropriate to position two temperature probes at different known distances from the heater and to use the time difference between the maximum temperatures of said two probes as the quantity for determining the thermal diffusity.
