Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a disposable hygienic absorbent product and in particular to an absorbent product useable as a napkin for babies, as a sanitary towel for ladies or incontinent adults.
  • disposable absorbent products are formed of at least two main layers, that is an absorbent layer positioned on the user side and suitable for receiving and storing the organic exudates of said user, and an impermeable outer layer having the purpose of preventing said exudates from coming out.
  • Said impermeable outer layer is generally formed of a thin film in polyolefin material, for example low density polyethylene (LDPE), optionally coupled with a fibrous layer which has only the purpose of making the external surface of the hygienic absorbent product pleasant to the touch.
  • LDPE low density polyethylene
  • impermeable polyolefin outer layer forms a barrier not only against the coming out of liquids, but also of gases, so that it prevents the normal skin transpiration, as well as the release of the vapors which are emitted in said absorbent layer due to the accumulation of the exudates.

  • Object of the present invention is therefore to provide a hygienic absorbent product which is free from said drawbacks. Said object is achieved by means of a hygienic absorbent product whose main features are specified in the first claim and other features are specified in the following claims.
  • a first advantage of the hygienic absorbent product according to the present invention consists in the high gas and vapor permeability thereof that, associated with a perfect liquid impermeability, ensures a suitable transpiration of the user's skin and at the same time prevents liquids from coming out. Further, said properties of the hygienic absorbent product also prevent the formation of condensates on the side of the absorbent product which is in contact with the user's clothes.
  • Another advantage of the hygienic absorbent product according to the present invention consists in that, by virtue of the particular polymeric material used for making the impermeable outer layer thereof, said layer is completely biodegradable and compostable in less than 12 weeks.

  • Monolithic polymers are known in the art as water vapor permeable materials by virtue of their partially hydrophilic nature which prevents the passage of the liquids, but enables at the same time the passage of the water vapor from the side with the higher concentration to that with the lower concentration. Said mechanism is known in the art so that further detailed explanations are not requested.

  • Said copolyesters have a very high biodegradability and compostability.
