Corrosion protection and brand protection today are thus done in 2 separate steps.

  • the manufacture of the said security device consists of first producing the intermediates like Holographic Film (1), Adhesive (2 & 6) and Plastic film with VCI (3 & 5) which are then combined through a process as detailed hereafter to get the required device.
  • the device so made is then converted to desired forms like film/bag/pouch etc. as required for the needs of packaging considering the form, weight and geometry of the metallic articles/parts/components to be packed.
  • the manufacturing of holographic film is done from the base polymeric film readily available from market.
  • the base film taken can be in varying thickness range from 8 microns to 200 microns of polymers like polyester and polypropylene or PVC ranging from 50 microns to 1000 microns.
  • These films are vacuum metallised and then embossed using a transfer image using the conventional holographic process and in the width desired for further processing keeping in mind the size and form required for end use.
  • the care is also taken to adjust the surface treatment to ensure a good bonding between the said holographic film to the adhesive to be used later in the process for lamination.
  • the adhesive used for bonding again depends upon the end use as regards the temperature of storage, transit conditions etc.
  • the adhesive base is prepared from polymers like aliphatic, aromatic polyurethane, polyester and polyol using conventional cross-linking agents, to give either a room temperature cure, heat activated cure, with or without a post cure at elevated temperature as required for the end use.
  • the various constituents are mixed in required proportions, suitably solvated using aliphatic/aromatic ketones, acetates and / or hydrocarbons and used within the usable life earlier determined for different compositions varying from 2 hours to 14 hours.
  • the mixing is done using conventional mixing equipments for a duration, determined earlier, for different compositions keeping in mind the viscosities of the ingredients to obtain a uniformly distribution and thorough mixing of the ingredients.
  • Plastic film with VCI is done by blending the conventional thermoplastic polymers commercially available based on, polyethylene, polyvinyl etc with the appropriate dosage of VCI chemicals and fillers. Appropriate amounts and type of colourants, readily and commercially available, are also added to get the required colour for ease

  • contact corrosion inhibitors are also used in the blend. The blend is then subjected to an extruder for obtaining the plastic VCI film of desired thickness and dimensions keeping in mind the size and form required for end use.
  • the thickness can range from 25 microns to 600 microns and the film can be either mono-layer as obtained through a mono-extrusion process or co-extruded as obtained through a co- extrusion process resulting in to film with two or more layers of same or different polymer layers and in different thicknesses of individual layers.
  • the final composite film (A) is then ⁇ cleTived by depositing the adhesive as obtained above once on the holographic film with depositions of adhesive varying from 1 gram per square meter to 10 grams per square meter, as evaluated and validated to obtain the desired level of bonding and in line with the surface treatment levels provided earlier in the process of manufacturing the holographic film.

  • the film 'B' is made by adding a specific proportion of VCI chemicals and other fillers to provide vapor corrosion and contact corrosion inhabition. This film can be transparent or in any colour. Different films like PP/PVC may also be used.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un dispositif de sécurité holographique et retardateur de la corrosion destiné à l'emballage d'articles/de pièces/de composants métalliques et composé d'un film/d'une feuille polymère avant et d'un film plastique arrière avec un inhibiteur de la corrosion à la vapeur. Une couche interne dudit film avant est métallisée sous vide au moyen d'un procédé traditionnel et puis elle est imprimée d'un message ou d'un logo spécifique pour produire un effet holographique à l'aide du procédé holographique traditionnel. La couche interne dudit film est ensuite recouverte avec un adhésif préparé et, puis, elle est séchée/traitée jusqu'à un certain point. On imprime une couche externe dudit film avec un modèle souhaité, et on réalise la feuille/le film plastique arrière avec un inhibiteur de la corrosion à la vapeur en mélangeant des polymères thermoplastiques traditionnels avec un dosage adéquat de produits chimiques d'un inhibiteur de corrosion à la vapeur et des charges. On lamine ensuite le film plastique pour obtenir un film holographique composite présentant des avantages de protection de marque et de retardateur de corrosion. Ce film composite holographique peut être combiné à d'autres feuilles/films composites polymères de construction similaire, mais exempts de message holographique avec ou sans impression comprise entre les couches des films pour constituer la couche inférieure d'un sachet composite.
