Definitions

  • the present invention relates generally to a device for preventing a reverse flow of a medical solution, such as a Ringer's solution, during an injection, and more particularly, to a device for preventing a reverse flow of a medical solution, which consists of an anti- reverse chamber formed at the center of a hose conveying the medical solution, a partition wall formed in the chamber and having a plurality of perforations, and a check plate positioned inside the chamber in such a way as to be movable in a direction perpendicular to the partition wall, and which is designed such that the check plate closes the perforations in the case where there occurs a reverse flow of blood due to user's carelessness while the medical solution contained in a Ringer's bottle or bag is injected into the body of a patient, thus preventing the reverse flow of blood.
  • a medical solution such as a Ringer's solution
  • a solution dripping unit 2 has an inlet needle 4 at its upper part, and a solution dripping chamber 3 at its lower part.
  • the inlet needle 4 is inserted into a Ringer's bottle 1, and the solution dripping chamber 3 contains a predetermined volume of medical solution.
  • a hose 5 is mounted to the lower end of the solution dripping chamber 3.
  • the conventional device for preventing the reverse flow of the medical solution has a check ball 6 in the chamber 3 which is constructed as described above.
  • the check ball 6 moves down so as to close a mouth of the hose 5, thus preventing air from being injected into the body of the patient. But, in the case where a reverse flow pressure is low, or the solution dripping unit 2 is inclined sideward or inverted, the check ball 6 does not close the mouth of the solution dripping chamber 3, thus being unable to prevent the reverse flow of blood.
  • an object of the present invention is to provide a device for preventing a reverse flow of a medical solution during an injection, which is capable of immediately blocking the reverse flow of blood in the case where there occurs the reverse flow of blood due to user's carelessness while injecting the medical solution into a patient, as well as being capable of preventing the reverse flow of blood even when there is little the reverse flow of blood.
  • the present invention provides a device for preventing a reverse flow of a medical solution during an injection, the device included in a solution injecting set comprising a solution dripping unit connected to a Ringer's bottle for controllably dripping solution from the bottle, a hose extending from the unit, a solution controller mounted to the hose, and a needle mounted to an end of the hose, the device consisting of an anti-reverse chamber formed at the center or an end of the hose and having a partition wall, with a plurality of perforations formed through the partition wall, and a check plate provided at its one surface with a guide rod, the guide rod inserted in the center of the partition wall such that it is moved in a direction perpendicular to the partition wall.
  • Fig. 1 is a view showing a solution injecting set including a device for preventing a reverse flow of medical solution in accordance with the present invention
  • Figs. 2a and 2b are sectional views of the device according to the primary embodiment of this invention, in which Fig. 2a shows the state of injecting a medical solution into a patient, and Fig. 2b shows the state of stopping the injection of the medical solution;
  • Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the device according to the second embodiment of this invention.
  • Fig. 4 is a sectional view of the device according to the third embodiment of this invention.
  • Fig. 5 is a sectional view of the device according to the fourth embodiment of this invention.
  • Fig. 6 is a sectional view of a conventional device for preventing a reverse flow of a medical solutioa
  • Figs. 2a and 2b are sectional views of a device for preventing a reverse flow of a medical solution during an injection, according to the primary embodiment of this invention.
  • a solution injecting set consists of a solution dripping unit 2, a hose 5, a solution controller 7 and a needle 8.
  • the solution dripping unit 2 is connected to a Ringer's bottle 1 for controllably dripping solution from the bottle 1.
  • the hose 5 extends from the solution dripping unit 2.
  • the solution controller 7 is mounted to the hose 5.
  • the needle 8 is mounted to the end of the hose 5.
  • This device consists of an anti-reverse chamber 10 mounted to the center of the hose 5.
  • a partition wall 11 is positioned in the anti-reverse chamber 10.
  • a plurality of perforations 12 are formed through the partition wall 11.
  • a check plate 14 is positioned in the anti-reverse chamber 10 in such a way as to be movable in a direction perpendicular to the partition wall 11.
  • a guide hole 13 is formed at the center of the perforated partition wall
  • a guide rod 15 is mounted to the center at a surface of the check plate 14.
  • a stopper 16 is mounted to the end of the guide rod 15. The guide rod 15 is inserted into the guide hole 13 such that it is moved in a direction perpendicular to the partition wall 11.
  • the check plate 14 moves away from the perforated partition wall 11, so the perforations 12 are opened as shown in Fig. 2a, thus allowing the medical solution to be smoothly injected into the patient. Meanwhile, when there occurs a reverse flow pressure due to the reverse flow of blood, the check plate 14 moves toward the perforated partition wall 11 in such a way as to be in close contact therewith. At this time, the perforations 12 are closed, thus preventing the reverse flow of blood.
  • the check plate 14 moves in a flowing direction of the medical solution by the pressure of the medical solution such that the perforations 12 are opened, thus injecting the medical solution into the body of the patient.
  • the check plate 14 moves toward the perforated partition wall 11 by the reverse flow pressure which is applied to a surface of the check plate 14. At this time, the check plate 14 is in close contact with the partition wall 11 while closing the perforations 12, thus preventing blood from flowing to the Ringer's bottle 1.
  • the anti-reverse chamber 10 may be mounted to any position of the hose 5 within a range between the solution dripping unit 2 and the needle 8. But, it is preferable to mount the anti-reverse chamber 10 to the hose 5 in such a way as to be positioned near the needle 8. Further, the perforated partition wall 11 may be mounted to not the chamber 10 but the hose 5.
  • the perforated partition wall 11 and the check plate 14 may be formed in an arc shape for increasing the reverse flow pressure applied to the check plate 14, in the case where there occurs the reverse flow of blood.
  • a pulling rod 17 may be provided on the stopper 16 which is formed on the end of the guide rod 15. The pulling rod 17 is projected from the stopper 16, and so it is easy to install the check plate 14 at the perforated partition wall 11 since the check plate 14 can be pulled by a person at the pulling rod 17 during the installation of the check plate 14.
  • a plurality of projecting stoppers 18 may be formed in the chamber 10, in place of mounting the stopper 16 to the guide rod 15.
  • the present invention provides a device for preventing a reverse flow of a medical solution during an injection, which is designed such that a check plate blocks a solution flowing passage, in the case where blood flows from the body of a patient into a hose and so there occurs a reverse pressure in the hose, and moves under a low pressure, therefore preventing the reverse flow of blood by rapidly blocking the passage when there occurs the reverse flow of blood, and which is designed such that a pressure is applied to the check plate in the case where a solution dripping unit is inclined sideward or inverted and blood flows in a reverse direction, thus rapidly preventing the reverse flow of blood whenever there occurs the reverse flow of blood.
