Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de produire efficacement de l'énergie mécanique ou électrique. Ce procédé consiste : à chauffer un premier agent de transfert de chaleur, liquide et vaporisable, (3) afin de produire une vapeur haute pression ; à utiliser cette vapeur haute pression afin de produire de l'énergie mécanique, puis de condenser la vapeur en un liquide ; et à recycler le liquide condensé dans l'étape de chauffage afin de le réutiliser comme premier agent liquide de transfert de chaleur. Cet appareil comprend un système d'agent de transfert de chaleur en boucle fermée comprenant un premier échangeur thermique (4) servant à chauffer un premier agent liquide de transfert de chaleur vaporisable afin de générer une vapeur à haute pression ; un dispositif mécanique (12) qui utilise la vapeur à haute pression afin de produire de l'énergie mécanique ; un condensateur (16) servant à condenser la vapeur en un liquide ; et une canalisation servant à établir une connexion fluidique entre le premier échangeur thermique, le dispositif mécanique et le condensateur et servant à recycler le liquide condensé dans le premier échangeur thermique afin de permettre sa réutilisation. Le premier agent de transfert de chaleur est de préférence maintenu dans un circuit hermétiquement fermé de façon que sensiblement aucune perte d'agent de transfert ne se produise pendant les étapes de chauffage et de condensation. Par ailleurs, ce premier agent de transfert de chaleur est du fluorocarbure ou un mélange de fluorocarbure qui : (a) produit une haute pression d'au moins 400 psi à une température de production de pression inférieure au point d'ébullition de l'eau, (b) possède un point d'ébullition inférieur au point de congélation de l'eau et (c) possède une température critique supérieure à la température de production de pression. L'invention concerne également divers appareils et moteurs à vapeur qui utilisent l'agent de transfert de chaleur afin de produire de l'énergie électrique ou des forces motrices.
