Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a water treatment tank having bottom, side and top walls defining a space inside the tank, said space containing a bottom layer of gravel and a top layer of a filter material, which is to be consumed by substances in water being treated inside the tank and thus has to be replenished in course of time, a top opening being provided in said top wall for accessing the tank when replenishing said filter material and for inserting a manifold into the tank, said manifold comprising a tubular part having an upper end slidingly connected to a cover, which is tightly mounted in said top opening and has a water duct communicating with the manifold, and having a lower end including a strainer embedded in said bottom layer.
  • the object of the invention is to improve a water treatment tank of the type mentioned by way of introduction in such a manner that a standard tank with a normal top opening is usable and that for service measures no means have to be disassembled inside the tank.

  • the manifold By using a simple disc, on top of which the load of gravel and filter material rests, the manifold is safely kept in place even when a considerable pull out force acts on it when removing the cover of the tank, the tank being of any standard type. Further, by placing the disc at the strainer in the bottom part of the tank, there is nothing but the manifold itself that obstructs the tank opening, i.e. there is enough room for necessary service measures without disassembling any additional parts of the tank.
