Abstract

Um bei einem Überspannungsableiter (1), welcher eine Ableitstrombahn mit zumindest einem Varistorblock (4a, 4b, 4c) aufweist, bei Vorliegen eines inneren Fehlers und damit verbundenen Auftreten eines Lichtbogens, ein Zerbersten der Varistorblöcke (4a, 4b, 4c) zu verhindern, ist vorgesehen, im Mantelbereich zumindest eines Varistorblockes (4a, 4b, 4c) eine Beschichtung (9, 9a, 9b, 9c) aus einem Werkstoff anzuordnen, die bei Überschreiten einer kritischen Temperatur der Varistorblöcke (4a, 4b, 4c) einen elektrischen Überschlag einleitet.
