Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé de codage d'image et un dispositif de codage d'image permettant d'améliorer la qualité de la reproduction d'image par une variation adaptative de la quantité de bits attribuée lors du codage de l'image en fonction de la caractéristique de l'image. Chaque image d'un groupe d'images est codé avec un débit binaire variable, au moyen d'un codage écran ou d'un codage prédictif. Le débit binaire du codage écran est calculé en fonction des caractéristiques de l'image.
