Abstract

The invention concerns firstly a construction element, in which the construction element comprises a brick and an insulating material, where the insulating material is placed in and/or on the brick. The invention concerns secondly a method for producing a construction element, in which both a raw material for obtaining a brick and an insulating material are provided during the production process, so that a construction element comprising a brick and an insulating material in and/or on the brick is obtained.

Description

INSULATING CONSTRUCTION ELEMENT AND A METHOD FOR PRODUCING SUCH A CONSTRUCTION ELEMENT
The invention concerns an insulating construction element and a method for producing such a construction element.
Until now, high-speed bricks are always supplied separately from the insulating material by the brick and insulation manufacturers, and so are also used separately on the construction site. The disadvantage of this is that in this construction method, the brick is first adhesive-bonded or mortared, and the insulation is then attached mechanically by means of cavity cleats and anchor discs, which is time-consuming and expensive.
The purpose of the invention is to provide a construction element and a method for producing such a construction element that does not have the above-mentioned disadvantage.
This purpose is achieved by providing a construction element and a method for producing such a construction element, in which the construction element comprises a brick and an insulating material, in which the insulating material is placed in and/or on the brick, and where in the method both a raw material for obtaining a brick and an insulating material are provided during the production process, so that a construction element comprising a brick and an insulating material in and/or on the brick is obtained.
The advantage of this is that the insulation is supplied along with the brick and is used in a single operation. In this way the insulation is built in along with the brick, so that a mechanical attachment is no longer required.
Fig. 1 is a top view of a brick according to the invention. In the method for making a brick with high insulation, the following steps are carried out:
1) The insulating construction element, for example a high-speed brick (6), provided with a perforation (7) and a hand grip (8), is extruded from a raw material, in this case ceramic, and is further provided with a specially formed chamber (2) that serves as lost shuttering;
2) After the process of drying the moulded brick, a material that forms an insulating material with sufficient compression strength after expansion during firing, e.g. glass powder, is added into the specially shaped chamber (2) through a filler opening (1);
3) This combination then goes into a heating device, for example an oven, whereby the insulating material and the ceramic part both have the same firing curve, and whereby both the firing of the dried ceramic mixture and the expansion of the material added to the specially shaped chamber (2) occur in the same process;
4) In the specially shaped chamber (2) there can be a shape, for example a dovetail joint shape (5) to improve the adhesion of the ceramic insulating material;
5) As a direct result of this production process, a brick is obtained with the insulation directly on it; 6) With the help of suitable apparatus, the shuttering is removed. Said suitable apparatus may be for example a grinding system that works with a diamond grinding wheel or bakelite grinding wheel, or percussion pins that break the shuttering. For this purpose there can also be an extra perforation (4) in the wall of the product. The brick is then further processed in order to obtain a finished product.
The insulation can also be provided inside the brick. In this case no lost shuttering is necessary, and there is a filling hole (1) in at least one of the two header ends of the brick. This type of construction element can be used in the partition wall between two semi-detached houses or terrace houses. The dimensions of a preferred embodiment for the adhesive bonding of insulating construction elements are 1 x w x h = 30 x 14 x 23.4 cm for the ceramic part (excluding shuttering), and l x w x h = 30 x 6 x 23.4 cm for the insulating part. The total dimensions of the material to be processed are therefore 30 x 20 x 23.4 cm.
The insulating construction element is also available with the header ends (12) in dovetail joint shapes (5).
This insulating construction element may also be made in other lengths (11), widths and heights, depending on the required values for insulating and/or acoustic resistance, load-bearing capacity, etc. In such cases variations in the thickness of the brick part (10) will affect the load-bearing capacity, while variations in the thickness of the insulation (9) will affect the thermal or acoustic insulation.
The following systems shall also be offered: separate insulating construction elements that can be adhesive-bonded or mortared together in situ; separate panels with a length of up to 1.50 metres, which can be adhesive-bonded or mortared together in situ; larger prefab panels, made up of a combination of separate panels and/or insulating construction elements, forming a single whole to be delivered to the site; the insulation can be on one side, both sides and/or inside the ceramic part of the construction element.
Double-sided insulated construction elements can be used for building thermal or acoustic partition walls. One advantage of a construction element insulated on both sides is that it is possible to plaster directly onto the insulating material. In a preferred embodiment of an insulating construction element according to the invention, the brick is smooth and is made of red-fired clay, so that it also has an orange-red colour. By adding other additives to the raw material, a different colour may be obtained. The insulation has an anthracite-coloured appearance, and has a somewhat grainy structure.
The insulating construction element according to the invention is mainly used in cavity walls. However, such construction elements can also be used for inside walls. The insulating construction elements can be used wherever a wall is combined with insulation, in order to improve the stability, thermal and/or acoustic behaviour of the wall. Accordingly, the range of application is very wide, the main ones being: housing construction, construction of utility buildings, - construction of industrial buildings.
