Definitions

  • the invention relates to equipment for a fun fair, and is also applicable to the field of sports equipment.
  • the invention can be usefully applied as a fun-fair ride and as training or sports equipment.
  • the main aim of the present invention is to provide an equipment of the above- cited type in which the capsule can be actively guided by the passenger in all directions.
  • An advantage of the invention is that the passengers are entertained with a ride of which some characteristics of the capsule's motion depend on the passenger's guiding ability.
  • figure 1 is a front view, in vertical elevation, of a first embodiment of the equipment of the invention
  • figure 2 is a side view of figure 1

  • 1 denotes in its entirety an equipment, usable in particular as a fun-fair ride or for sports equipment, comprising a support structure to which at least one capsule 2 (able to contain at least one person) is movingly constrained.
  • each capsule 2 can seat two passengers.
  • the support structure comprises two distanced lateral uprights, each of which comprises two columns 3 arranged in an upturned- V shape.
  • a horizontal axle 4 extends between the upper ends of the upturned- V columns 3, at a predetermined height, for example about 20 metres.

  • Each arm 5 is freely rotatable about the rotation axle 4 in order to be able to perform a complete revolution.
  • Each arm 5 bears, on an end thereof, a capsule 2, and on another end thereof, a counterweight for the capsule 2.
  • Each capsule 2 is in fact a real aircraft, provided with a propeller 7 which is driven by a motor 8 and provided with aerodynamic blades.
  • the motor 8 powers the propeller 7 and thus moves the aircraft, or capsule 2.
  • the capsule 2, constrained by the arm 5, can fly only about the axle 4.
  • the propeller 7 can be arranged frontally (with reference to the position of the passengers on board) or above the capsule 2, or in any other position which enables the capsule 2 to move aerody ⁇ amically.
  • the capsule 2 is rotatably constrained to the support structure and can rotate by a full revolution about a rotation axis x-x which passes transversally (with reference to the position of the passengers indicated by a broken line in figure 4) through the body of the capsule 2.
  • Each capsule is provided with two lateral projections 9, basically in the shape of an aeroplane's wings, which are rotatably and coaxially coupled to a C-structure 10 located at an end of the arm 5.
  • the C-structure 10 is solidly constrained to the arm 5, but it can also be freely-rotatably supported by the arm 5 about the longitudinal axis of the arm 5 itself.
  • Mobile surfaces are provided to vary the aerodynamic lift and control the equilibrium of the capsule 2. These mobile surfaces are controlled by the passenger on board using piloting controls, and can be constituted by wing-flaps applied on the frailing ends of the wing-shaped lateral projections 9, on the back of the capsule 2 or on other parts thereof.

  • the capsule 2 is equipped with motor controls and flaps, which enable the passenger to guide the capsule 2.
  • Also included (for each capsule) is an automatic control system which can be used as an alternative to manual control, or which can take over if the passengers experience some difficulty in guiding the capsule 2.
  • each capsule 2 can perform is a combination of two movements: complete revolution about the axle 4 to which all of the arms 5 are constrained, and complete revolutions of the capsules 2 about themselves, about the various x-x axes which pass through each capsule 2.
  • the passenger piloting the capsule 2 In order to make complete revolutions about the axle 4, at high speed, with no help from the automatic control system, the passenger piloting the capsule 2 must show ability, acting on the on-board controls to guide the capsule 2 along the compulsory circular trajectory; the capsule 2 in fact has to be guided through its circular trajectory, especially by manoeuvring of the wing-flaps, or it will not rise up and will not be able to complete a full revolution.
  • the possibility of full rotation of the capsule about the axle 4 adds fun and variety to the activity of piloting the capsule 2.
  • the passenger-pilot by correctly adjusting the wing-flap position during the ride, can make the capsule 2 complete a full revolution about the axle 4 supporting the arm 5. If the pilot-passenger is not sufficiently able, the capsule 2 may not make complete revolutions.
