Definitions

  • the invention relates to an object exposed to the weather, in particular a tile or roof tile, the surface of which is hydrophobic.
  • Water repellents on the surface are known. More recently, fluorosilanes and inorganic-organic hybrid polymers have also been used for the purpose of hydrophobizing surfaces made of different materials and especially ceramic surfaces.
  • the invention is based on the knowledge that when handling hydrophobized materials or objects, in particular ceramic bodies, traces of grease are formed on the surfaces with bare hands, which despite the inherently hydrophobic property of fat and the small amount thereof, impair the leads to the hydrophobizing agent used.
  • Greasy traces can also be left in other ways, for example on roof tiles by walking over the soles of shoes.
  • abrasion of foreign material for example sole material (rubber) or dirt when walking on a roof, occurs on the surface and this foreign material obviously affects the leads hydrophobic layer or at least this does not become effective by covering it.
  • a protective layer made of a material which is itself affected by weather influences, e.g. can be destroyed by UV radiation.
  • the protective layer after the application of the protective layer and the intended use of the object or material, no further care needs to be taken for the removal of the protective layer, because the natural UV radiation acts on the surface exposed to the weather, especially in direct sunlight. If an appropriate protective layer material is used, it is therefore removed after a relatively short time, e.g. after only three to four weeks, destroyed by the natural UV radiation and the hydrophobic layer released below comes into effect.
  • Materials which can be destroyed by UV radiation are those which are decomposed by the UV radiation into harmless residues which do not have an adverse effect on the environment and which in turn can then be rinsed off and removed by sprinkling or sprinkling.
  • materials which are completely degraded to volatile residues by the UV radiation and which do not require rinsing off are silanes, silicones or silicone oils.
  • the protective layer material can be chosen to be soluble and / or washable only by watering or sprinkling with water.
  • gelatin can be used, for example, which keeps grease and other foreign material away from the surface, but is dissolved and rinsed away by rainwater after being ventilated in its intended state.
  • the protective layer materials are available which can be in a flowable form and can therefore be transferred to the surface to be protected by conventional application steps such as spraying, pouring, spinning or dipping and then solidified if necessary. Electrostatic application is also conceivable. This also applies to the protective layer in the form of a film which, after the application of the initially flowable material, is then crosslinked or solidified in some other way. Relevant materials are known from packaging technology.
